@adollce There was a lack of abundance in food back then in Romania. It was a Communist country and there was a limited amount being grown as well as imported. My parents were from communist Russia and said it was the same over there. This was in the 60's and 70s, unlike today where the quality of everything has changed worldwide.

Love Nadia. From what I've read she's had to endure countless bouts of stress and dysfunction throughout her life: eating disorders, Ceauşescu regime abuse, defection. She's weathered it about as well as one could possibly expect. Plus she looks fantastic, of course (although it looks like she had a boob and lip job...lol).

@nancyyaz24 lots of others gymnasts recived 10s after nadia first get it, i know that the last perfect ten was recived also by a romanian Lavinia MIlosovici in 1996 (floor). romanians started the perfect ten era and also ended it. i want the old score back....

The last perfect 10 was in the 1992 barcelona olympics, by another Romanian, Lavinia Milosovice on the floor even finals (there was another 10 on that olympics by Lu Li in uneven bar finals), but there haven't been any 10's since 10. Daniela Silivas, Oksana Omelianchik, Boginskaya, Shushunova, are one of the many other gymnasts that scored several 10's in competition (Oksana Omelianchik's 1985 floor routine is my favorite ever)

Well, I will explain to you what Nadia means when she says she is from Molodva. Yes ineed, there is a country called "Moldova" or "Republica Moldova"(republic), but there is also a region in the north-east of Romania called "Moldova". Nadia is from Onesti, which is in Romania, but is in the region called "Moldova". That's what she meant when she said she was from Moldova.

@morenodelaorilla It's a bit late, but Moldova is an old Romanian province. After WW II, the soviets took half of it (the Eastern part). That part belonged to USSR from 1941 up to 1990. After that the Former Soviet Moldova became an independent country. Western Moldova (where Nadia was born) has always been Romanian.
