DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYUM!!! Retro-current setup! Veeeeery Nice [Borat voice] though I don't play an instrument per se, I wish I had all that gear man! Those synths alone would do just fine lol.
@nickeax To bad man... Im becoming a hoarder of gear. If I find a deal, whether its analog or digital, I get it if I can! Even if I know I dont need it @ the time. Eventually, I'm going to have it set up in a nicely custom built studio. I found a student thats going to build me some George Augsberger monitor cabinets as his final grade project this year! Wooden horns and all! Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice! I hope...
if your on a low budget i would get an alesis multimmix 8 usb and get an mxl v67g mic reason 4.0 a midi controller and some simple usb studio monitors and that would total up to about 800 dollars and the multimix comes with cubase software
It is nice to have nice gear, but I would advise you to learn as much as you can before buying things. Unless money is no object, buying the wrong things may prevent you from owning gear you really need.
if im working on a start of a home studio an im spends like a grand... an the computer is 500 an im buying like a akg 420 mic for like 300.. whats the best thing i do.. get a mixer or get an audio interface??? my studio is mostly for vocals if that matters
I'm using my m-audio interface as my sound device on my computer. I can't get rid of the latency on my m-audio keyboard. I'm using sonar 6 an my head is about to explode. Do you know any ideas of how I can fix this?
Are you talking about the actually keyboard, or the downloaded drivers? I see what your saying though. Is the monitor a seperate piece of hardware? thanks a lot.
It's difficult trying to help you within the comments! May I suggest you visit a forum that deals with M-Audio products? They will be able to offer you much better advice than I ever could.
I just upgraded from the original KRK Rokit5 speakers to the Rokit5 G2's (new version) and there amazing!...defo recommend!!
The original Rokit5's are still a good investment, just a little hyped at the low end, but after a while you get use to it and can compensate for that.

Man if you sell all of that gear you'd get a fair amount of cash to get you some awesome gear! In my opinion this is a real (90's) studio setup
I LOVE IT ;)

You don't really need a mixer.
nickeax 2 years ago
well a lot of interfaces are mixers in their own right
so I would say get an interface with good preamps and plug your mic into that
this is better than running a standard mixer one the laptop sound input
wolfhalen 2 years ago
There are many usefull virtual mixers you can use on the pc check out reason or apple logic those two are the best for many people....

It's my craptastic version of a 1973 Black Sabbath song called "Killing Yourself To Live", from the album, "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath".

You could try 'direct monitoring'. This is where your monitor signal is routed to your monitors/phones before the software even gets the data.
You probably have tried, but go into the M-Audios control panel and simply set a lower latency target time.

Do you likr those KRK Monitors? Because I'm planning on buying the Krk RP5's.
ruslanio 3 years ago
I personally think the KRK RP8s are fine monitors. I'm not sure, but you might want to consider also getting a sub with the RP5s.
