  • Sweetness all around.

  • Well I have no idea what it takes to do something like this but it looks very good! Thank you for posting.

  • I agree this is porn

  • Oh. My. Freaking. God. I didn't know YouTube allowed porn!

  • Amazing. Sure wish someone could teach me how to do this stuff. I'm so jealous. You're really good. I can just imagine how long this took to put together. You make it look easy and I know it's not.

  • Sweet!

  • she's the most beautiful lady to fly amongest the stars. a grand old lady

  • Ummm, where are the WorkBees?

  • I want to know how to do this kind of work

  • i like the shuttlecraft ....the travelpod can come later..perhaps that wasnt admiral kirk arriving

  • @bigdaveking Yeah, Kirk would've been frustrated by the lack of sideways visibilty. Not a good thing for an inspection flight.

Another reason I was disappointed by the non-use of the TravelPod was that we didn't get to see a proper shadow play across the secondary hull as the pod passes between the floodlights and the Enterprise on final approach, because that was one of the few major goofs Trumbull's team made in the original.

    Otherwise, these are AWESOME renderings!!

  • ohhhhhh gentlemen.. I'm soooo geeking out right now ,(lol) As I was listening to the music by (alexander courage?) I was mentally pointing out stuff on the ship,I.E. egineering, where the original travel pod went, brigde,on an on.like the way the flight deck looked although as I remember it there were two decks.(I think....)anyway,very well done. keep up the good work, want to see more.

  • Nice work

  • I like this version. You brought more life to the spacedock like in the original movie.

  • You absolutely nailed the colors and lighting of the original model shots. Very clean, very accurate, high fidelity to the original. Great Job!

  • I like this. Nice animation.

Some things I noticed: the earth is in daylight, but the drydock is in shadow. That throws me a bit as does the lighting on the shuttle vs. the drydock. However, I really love the texturing and lighting on the enterprise, and the modeling and texturing of the drydock.

My only recommendation on the texturing is to cut down the gloss a bit. Very well done.

  • does any one else notice thats the 1701-A shuttle bay

  • Nice job !

  • You know, this was one of the greatest cinematic moments for me as a child. When I saw this part of ST:TMP. The special effects were so seamless, I believed.. I really did. This is the only time in star trek you get a real feel for the ship. In my mind, she was real. Great job mylex.

  • Scott: Gave her back, sir? I doubt it was that easy with Nogura.

    Kirk: You're right.

Scott: Anyone who can pull that off, I wouldna dare dissapoint. She'll launch on time...an' she'll be ready!

  • That pretty damned sweet

  • Absolutely top notch in every detail. I really prefer your shuttlecraft arrival of Kirk to the original travel pod..... never really understood why they didn't use the shuttle.

  • @BassinK9 Because they needed the Shuttle Bay for materiel (cargo) traffic, that's why they take Travel Pods not Shuttles in this situation. When they stepped inside you could see the Engineering Hull was plenty busy with activity. Big enough time crunch before launch and they don't need the Cap'n interfering using the garage door when there's a side-door available to step in through.

  • @BassinK9 With one window in the shuttle facing forward rather than a travel pod with a rounded canopy window, one would think viewing the ship would be easier in a travel pod. Guess I was the only one who noticed that hehe.

  • @pspboy7 Nope, you're not the only one!

  • Beautifully done.

  • I swear it is like I could step through the screen and be there and would not know the difference that I did.

  • Great job guys!!!. One thing though, Slow down the fly by its a little fast.

  • bad...bad

  • Excellent job gentlemen. This is some of the best animation I've seen. I think I might have seen a couple of 'stutters' when the shuttle was doing the turn, but it's damn good. BTW, where are you guys located?

  • Solid! Do you guys do Runabouts?

  • Fantastic, fantastic. One of my favorite scenes out of all the films. And you did a fantastic job with it.

  • For some reason the Enterprise doesn't seem so big when you see the shuttle craft entering the bay there.

  • @DeafFret If you look at the technical specs of the NCC-1701 refit, it's really not all that big. From stem to stern, it's just barely over 300 meters long. By comparison, the Galaxy class comes close to 650 meters, and the Sovereign tips the charts at almost 700 meters. Even the 'tiny' Intrepid class (think Voyager) is longer than the Constitution refit.

  • but the constitution class were like the galaxy class ships of the 23rd century. So it's really no comparison. There were only 12 of these ships during TOS so that says how powerful they really were in trek.

  • I think your team would enjoy laying out the componets and architecture of the schematic view.

To watch a person move from one end of the ship to the other while seeing a portion of the inside is an interesting idea i know you could perfect.

  • I think you all did amazing work. Thanks.

I think it would be interesting to watch a crew member move through the ship in a schematic view, moving turbo lifts, up or down ladders ect, to get to their ship station. To get an idea of the immense size of a starship.

  • Once again, i am stunned. This is incredible!!! I.....

Im at a loss for words. The video speaks for itself. Long live the Enterprise refit!!

Hope to see more animations based on TMP.

  • That was absolutely gorgeous!

  • I was stunned by the first run of this video. Now im just blown away. The first was impressive. This one is a masterpiece. Love the travel pod additions, and the new Earth. Lighting and reflections is top knotch. cant wait to see the rest again. yes would love to see both pieces rendered in one run like the first. Where can i download this. If permitted, i would like to use it as a screen saver video. keep up the beautiful work. This keeps TMP alive in or minds.

  • Now you need to go back & redo (TMP Enterprise leaving the Dock) you made a while back.

To top it all off... You need to do both videos with scene clips of the cast & crew with dislogue. Call it... Star Trek: The Motion Picture - mylex67 Edition.

    Complete with all new visuals.

  • @ewtng Yes the second part leaving drydock is just rendering, you'll seen it soon. Maybe I'll make an "Extended Version" with both clips :-)

  • It looks INCREDIBLE!

  • I love it!

  • Really great work :) Hope you continue to make more animations

  • I don't know how you did it, but this version is even more beautiful than your earlier one. As ever, your animations honor my humble model and I'm grateful you chose to include it in your work. Can't wait to see your re-do of the launch sequence!
