If you get to speak to Mr Cramer again, ask him if he knew an "Otis Allison". My grandfather was an Ace Pilot (nicknamed "Ace") and he flew in the 801st as well. Unfortunately, he passed away before I was able to get his story from him. However, I've managed to collect many articles on him and some of his friends.
I'll see if I still have his email address and, if I do, I'll forward your message to him. I haven't talked with him in three years so I hope he is still with us...
This is awesome. I so wish more of the greatest generation would tell their stories. Like most, my grandfather won't talk about it (which I understand) but once they die, their story is gone forever.
Thx for sharing - Im The Danish Representive for the CARPETBAGGERS - 801st/492nd Bomb Group - and this video here show me WHY i used so much time of my life on the 2WW - To tell the storys about those STRONG men who foght in WW2
When these vets talk about their experiences in post-war Europe, they have nothing but nice things to say about the Danes, Dutch and Belgian's. To a man, they said the people from these countries treated the allied forces very well, so the admiration is mutual.
Thank for sharing this important part of history. My dad was a pilot with the 801st/492nd-a Carpetbagger, and I have always felt their story was never told. It is such an important part of history and what an amazing group of men.
Are you sure - i have so much information about them - and there are websites and The Carpetbaggers have a reunion every year - contact me ober YT mail if you want more info ;-)
oh boy, uh, a lot of different movies. saving private ryan, pearl harbor, cinderella man, apollo 13. pretty much any movie with music that sounds powerful and patriotic. u can get them off of itunes, limewire, or just buy the soundtrack.
No Words or Medals can tell what these People did! These are Heros! Real Heros!!!! I am a 36 y old German. My Stepdad was an US Army Soldier. I was living in the US 2 Years. I teached myself THE Hystory. If i had the Power... All u Veterans would not be Veterans.... I cant tell how much i thank and love you guys for what u did for us!!!! is there a Veteran Chat i could visit? please let me know!
I feel the same way about these vets as you do, Skimpy0671. I'm afraid that I don't know if a veteran chat room or forum exists on the web. It may, I'm just not aware of one. However, if you would like to learn more about WWII, I would strongly suggest reading The Story of WWII by Donald Miller. It's a great overview of the war told from the soldier's prospective.
These veterans are the greatest generation. My Dad was Army Air Corp in WWII and Korea. He died before I knew about the Veterans History Project. I have done some WWII Korea Vietnam and the Gulf War veterans. The veterans that allow it I broadcast on local T.V. Thanks for helping with this project.
bless him !!!

Pretty cool. What music did you use? I'm trying to find new sources for music that isn't copyrighted.

Pickle117 - I couldn't agree more. I consider it an HONOR to have known these men and for sharing what they experienced with me.
Take care.
