For any doubters, i did 155mph and didn't reach top speed due to traffic, knowing how and when to shift is very critical for your top speed, i was at only 2krpm 6th gear at 155 and was forced to slow down...BTW this was in New Jersey

For the DUMBASSES and HATERS: 1.The fucking rx8 has a rotary (no cylinders) 2. Since it's a rotary it loves redlining and reving high 3. The longer you stay at top speed the more it goes because its rotary (mazda tests each rotary up to 14500 rpms before giving it a pass) 3. The Rx8 will overlap cars with 100hp more than it on tracks, it's meant for curves, not straights 4. I don't care if you got a v8, my 1.3L will tear that ass on track, it got 3rd best handling vehicle in production faggots

from my experience, i shifted into 6 at 100 and the low torque took me some time to get to 130, last time i shifted into 6 at 120 and that did the trick. hold out to 7-8.5k on runs like that to get the quickest accel.

it actually does matter with manual and auto, they tuned down the HP and redline because the auto tranny is weaker and the low HP version also comes in a 5spd manual.

Bei den 1.3 Litern sollte man aber die Drehzahl berücksichtigen. Denn Drehmoment mal Drehzahl macht die Leistung. Der Hubraum steht für das Drehmoment, den Rest holt man aus der Drehzahl. Ein 1.4 Liter Turbo von der Stange leistet heute auch schon um die 200PS und fährt erfahrungsgemäß auch nicht schlechter. Vom Verbrauch ganz zu schweigen. Nichtsdestotrotz fasziniert mich die Technik vom Wankel.

This is pretty normal actually , we've run diagnostics and gps mapping on track days and found its pretty typical for the speedometer to read around 9-10% extra on what speed the car was actually going on the RX8.

Take that 10% away from 270 kph = 243 kph/ 151 mph

It seems a mere 31 km/h, but you know that for a top speed in a car that is a lot. And bu the way, how is that so many car owners stats top speeds way higher than his car official top speed, even being the car stock? For thsi case I only can imagine a scenario where 266 were achievable with 4 on the car: a long straight, but downhill, not flat.

@alamos8 Yes, I think this is downhill, at least from 240 km/h onwards. It is clearly seen that it takes AGES to go from 230 to 240... that is coherent with an official top speed of 235 km/h. I dunno, but maybe the law stats that the homologated top speed must be achievable inside a length limit? this is, maybe a 266 km/h top speed canot be homologated for the car if it takes kms and kms to achieve...

@theoriginalopo My two last RX-8s (a 2005 and 2008 versions) both had a difference of 3 %. That is to say, when the speedometer reads 103 km/h, many GPS (phone, Garmin, etc.) always showed 100 km/h. That's with everything stock, including new tires, which could make the bulk of the difference.When the tires wear and get thinner, that error should increase lightly, but I found it to be negligeable even with worn out tires, after 3 years. So my experience is far from 9-10% extra.

In this case, I feel that extra people would make the car achieve top speed less quickly, but overall, the car can still achieve the same top speed. Problem solved?

kinetic energy = 1/2 ( mass x velocity^2)

it requires more power to make more mass have the same velocity.

since the RX8 is the same power, it will go faster with less people.

As unlikely as it is a person can simply replace a transmission and get more gears out of it as long as the car's computer knows how to handle it. The more gears you have ... well, your torque is exponential at that point... Expensive - not exactly worth it - but possible. To think that a car would be limited at six gears...
