@iEvoss Right! These encryptions were useless for music channels. Why paying for videoclips if you had the opportunity to hear the songs without paying back in the late 90`s? Also, they could turn the encryption into Nagravision, which it had sound encryption compability.
we had pirate card for video crypt 2 loong time ago just for mtv cmt and somethin else but forgot multichoice receivers aah old times .. now completly finished with sattelites or dishes .. useless
I know an engineer which knows the VIDEOCRYPT encryption: with a matrix of 255 lines mixed in a pseudo random cycle and a conditional access... It was very easy to decode illegaly this system. Digital system used today (Mediaguard...) is a very sure encryption and you need to pay for to see these networks !
Videocrypt2 was also used for a few UK channels on Astra 19.2degE that were available too, within Multichoice Kaleidoscope's pay-tv bouquet in countries it was available to.
haha at least u got music sound :)

VH1 analogue on Astra was only Videocrypt I. However both systems looked the same to non subscribers.
MTV Europe had both encryption systems, even when it turned into MTV UK in 1997, and until mid' 98. After mid '98 just VC I for BSkyB.

I still watch VH1 European but on Hotbird with excellent playlists and a heck load of 90's gems ;-)

should be Videocrypt 1.
VC2 has been used for outer-UK channels only, as MTV Europe
so the prohibited continental viewers from watching UK channels
