Just out of curiosity, how do you directly record the game?

A device called a "capture card". Basically, you plug the A/V cables from your console into it, and it plugs into a USB port, and using the software your capture card came with, it records it. As for capture cards, you can go cheap or expensive, mine's a cheap one (20$, EZ-Cap), but it's still pretty good. (The more expensive ones would be Dazzle and Pinnacle, which are about 100$)

Better build quality (of the device), better recording quality, and better included recording software. But if you're on the cheap (like me), grab yourself an EZ-Cap from eBay for 20$ and you should be just fine.

Well, this is still friendly. After all, people in situations like this usually end up with people being eaten by a Grue.

Also, hasn't science class taught you anything? Chain smokers are the cause of all darkness, not some silly notion about the absense of light.
