This is very sad to me. I can't help thinking about the documentary Spellbound and how some of the parents in that film were so obsessed with their kids being smart. I see the same thing happening here. All this talk about the kid becoming famous and on TV. Those are hollow adult aspirations, and could never come from a 3 year old. he may be now, at age three, but a couple thing may happen when he grows up. He will become a know-it-all snob too obsessed with his own knowledge to care about anyone else (hope not), he will be outed just for knowing all that stuff, and because they're jealous (trust me, it happens, even thought it shouldn't).

Yes, we in the U.S. used to waste our time memorizing this kind of crap, but we've since realized that memorization is the LOWEST form of learning. There's far more to education than simply parroting back facts. The larger goal is synthetic learning in which the person actually understands how all the pieces fit together.
