  • song at @0:22

  • Just read the fantastic book. Can't wait to see this!

  • It's a movie that can relate to all ethnic Americans. The struggles we face growing up as a minority, embarrassed by our parent's accents, but still trying retain our culture and simultaneously be socially "accepted".

  • @purba91

I related to this film on the basis of hating my first name.

  • aha this is familar to me... except i act like the brown guy instead of him acting white

  • Just finished reading a book 15 minutes ago, and now i want to see a movie.

  • Oh wow that looks really good! I have to read the book for an English class and I wanted to see what the movie was like. Now I really want to see this movie! :D

  • DAM GOOD MOVIE!

  • This one of my favorite indie love films. Another awesome film is White Wedding; I couldn't stop laughing. It’s was entered in the 2010 Oscars for South Africa.

    whiteweddingmovie. com

  • Favorite movie of all time. I believe the preview is good, but the movie is much better than the trailer makes it seem. I have trouble getting people to watch the movie when I tell them what its about, but when they do they like it. I very strongly recommend this film to everyone with an open mind towards life and love.

  • I'm reading this in school. I hope it's good and i'm going to rent it

  • TU CREES QUE SABES PERO NO SABES

CREES QUE VES PERO NO VES

CREES QUE ESCUCHAS PERO NO ESCUCHAS

CREES SENTIR CUANDO NI SIQUEIRA HAS DESPERTADO...

  • Sorry, but the book was terrible... Was absolutely no point to it. It droned on and on, with no plot, feeling or anything. I didn't care about Gogol. His lack of pride made me hate him. The book ended at the most random point aswell. Movie looks alot better...

  • Im reading this book, its really good soo far

  • This movie was amazing <3

  • Gogol AKA GoogLE.

  • I am supposed to read this book for school by Monday, I am fifteen pages in so far and I would say it was written by a 13 year old if I didn't know it was a real book. The tense and diction is so awkward.

  • I'm reading the book now... can't wait to see the movie next. It looks like it follows the book pretty well in the preview.

  • Effing amazing movie.

  • when did the movie come out?

  • @yadu0412 2006

  • i hope the movie is as good as the book

  • it its.

  • what is the title of the soundtrack that start at 1.33 of the trailer?

    I think that it's fantastic!

  • @pierluigicerto : It's called - "Worlds Apart" by Immediate Music

  • the trailer just SUCKS compared to the movie. I was expecting something much better, kinda disappointed me...

  • anyone have the book and live in Brooklyn i really need this book!

  • i swear i love this movie

kal penn did an amazing job

  • the trailer or the firs look spectacular i will watch the movie for shore

  • great film. as cheesy as it sounds, it makes me miss home.

  • The trailer is just poor. It makes the movie out to be something it totally isn't. It's so much more.

  • what is the music when they are looking to the Taj Mahal ??? beautiful movie

  • @pop2111 : Yea, I would like to know that piece of music as well!

  • the trailer should give you a pretty decent synopsis.... WTF?!?!?

  • I am currently reading this book in English class. I can tell you now that it's not a romance film.

Basically, the conflict is about his name.

  • hey man can you please give me afull summary of the book with the plot, main characters, problems & solutions, motifs, and stuff like that I can't get hte book and i need to know what the book is about for school. Please!!!!!

  • Well, I found that reading the book helps.

  • where did u buy the movie from?

  • just bought this movie. it's really great. this and slumdog millionaire are awesome!

  • i saw this movie today and i fell in love with it...i cried of course haha

  • It is amazing that "The Namesake" did not get the same amount of praise as "Slumdog Millionaire"!

    SDM fucking blew!

  • I loved this movie. I was actually more interested in the parents' story than that of Gogol. I cried the last 20 minutes, and I never cry during movies.

  • So sad when Ashok passed, so sad!

  • I want to see this really bad.

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

i just finished it and i was just...blown away. one of the best movie i've seen..ever!

  • Penn is amazing and the book was just that much better

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE!! It is such a heart-breaking, beautiful film that (Im not afraid to admit) made me a bit emotional. If you are Indian you will DEFINITELY love this film.

  • a wonderful movie.....all d actors were awesome! a must watch!

  • no matter how anyone praise Kal Pen to skies, the fact remains the same that Namesake belongs to TABU the greatest actress and superb performer Hindi Cinema has ever seen....watch out her silent expressions and then burst out at a lonely cold night when she heard the news of her husband's death

  • good movie i love him from white castle too (:

  • I just saw this movie and I loved it. Nice representation of us.

  • Unless there's more than 1 French song in the movie, it is not called "Postales". The song that goes "Bonjour Monsieur, Bonjour Madame" is a techno song by Ursula 100 called, "Riviera Rendezvous". I spent a few hours researching it one night and it is also on an unrelated video clip here on YouTube if you do a YouTube search on Riviera Rendezvous you will easily find it.

  • Wow, I never knew Kal Penn could do seriousness...

  • lol white castle

-- he's an actor what do you expect

  • i love this song amazing kal pan was awesome in this movie!

  • This was a fantastic movie and long with a great story line it really showed how kal Penn plays a very good serious role.

  • this was an AMAZING MOVIE!!!!!

i though it was so good that i bought it on DVD...and i usually just bitorrent it.lol

  • good movie -

can you please tell me the name of the song

that plays at the end while titles are going - it goes something like this: behind me the bridges are crumbling where would I find my home

  • i wish my parents said "do as you vish" more often.

  • I am the "white girlfriend". Life can be hard.

  • I love this movie! I'm multiracial with Indian blood and it makes me want to go to India and explore that side of me.

Regarding Gogol and his parents, I can kind of feel for them. Gogol was born in America and it's the only world he knows. His parents, however, just want to hold on to home.

    Great movie!

  • the french song used in this movie is 'postales'. I'm not sure if it plays on the girls cell phone but it is a soundtrack of the movie.

  • This movie broke my heart. I never cried during a movie but this one made me. This has a special place with me

  • @masterbass45 go see harold and kumar it will be replaced

  • Kal Penn needs to do

    more serious movies!

  • Hello all, Could someone who has seen this movie tell what that ringtone was when Gogal wife was talking to her Mother-inlaw in the kitchen in french to some guy on the phone...., Do you know what i mean? I know this sounds weird but.... Thanks

  • yea its what happened to me

    xept im not indian
