It's me again brothers, and go Grandpa on that harmonica.....I can play a base bucket string, homemade..hehehe...and blow the jug, as my dear departed Grandpa showed me how, and the juice harp, but wasn't so good at it, especially after it popped me in the mouth.....SMILES
Maybe its just me but when I listen to incredible moments like this my mind goes to a peaceful place where things like negative comparisons to other singers seem so out of place.
Just watched this story on Sunday Night Australia and sure a great voice but the best ever street bussker was Ted Hawkins which I still play daily RIP, Ted.
Hey people, this has made my day. And half the night. Great, that's all I say, apart from cheers. The sun will do the rest :) check out my music, it'll be an honour from you all.
If this was in 99 or 98 then I was lurking in the back. Matter of fact I know that hat....
These guys were the best. Stoney should ditch the band and grab a couple stools and Grandpa and take that on the road. They had that magic that maybe only the street can capture.
I'm glad Grandpa hit it big but it sort of sucks that you can't find these guys playing in the quarter anymore. In our last pre-Katrina visit we were out late and found Stony B and Grandpa playing in a doorway. They weren't playing up the rube angle and were totally acoustic, and played the most awesome version of Purple Rain I've ever heard. I still think they were the best bluesmen New Orleans had in the modern era, and as close as you could hope to get to Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee.
this is the real sh*t

I heard Lady Gaga play live in the studio on the Howard Stern show. No bullshit, just her at a Steinway Grand Piano. She was great!
