I have a feeling Jer didn't really know this song very well, so he had to just kind of play around with it, like at 2:15. Dean was chuckling at it. Lol if so, he covered it up well. I love these boys. The way they look at each other at the end is sooo cute!
I seem to think they came on the heels of BING & BOB-
a crooner & a comic ... so Crosby & Hope may have paved the foundation for Martin & Lewis- Yet these two manage to elevate the art form to a UTOPIA all their own-
very natural & very tight connection harmony of spirit -
they'll never be another team like Dean & Jerry because they had a love affair that made their acts different from any other team. They just adored one another & they never really split up. They saw each other & spoke to each other away from the camera on a personal level. I'm just so proud to have been born in an era that had 2 of the most wonderful people on this earth. They worked hard & enjoyed what they did. God Bless Both of Them
ditto w/lilmsthang2, i was born in 1990 and have the sense of humor of don rickles, my mother told me that, comedy today, while still funny, but its more dirty than it was 50 yrs ago.
@fanofwwe Sadly it is very true. I was born in the same year. *sigh* Friends always said I was weird but thank God I actually have a sense of humor! These two are wonderful comic geniuses!!!!!
You have an old soul! thats a wonderful thing. I feel I am the same way, I grew up watching dean and jerry and black and white movies and listening to oldies and stuff, I am fascinated with vintage clothing and decorating. and I was born in 1980 I totally agree I was born in the wrong generation totally.
I agree with ravenhawk1326, I love how comfortable they are with each other, it really shows. Thankfully 'touching-and-not-being-gay' is not completely out! I can only think of a few, but my closest comparison would be the wonderful Starsky & Hutch aka Paul Glaser and David Soul, who touched in every single episode somehow, and have managed to stay the closest of friends to this day. *sigh* But Martin & Lewis forever have my heart :D
It's funny because people don't touch each other anymore.... for the most part we don't even stand that close to one another anymore even if it's your best friend for fear that someone will think you're gay or some other weird thought... it's not okay to touch a man who's your friend anymore if you want to be thought of as a man.
I don't think Dean and Jerry cared...they were just 2 friends having a good time...oh and making millions of dollars in the process...what's so wrong with that? lol
most entertainers now don't even deserve to be called entertainers...they're all in it for the money...Dean and Jerry actually liked what they did...money just happened to be apart of it...lol
i know- i wish more people were able to find a job that really satisfied them the way this one did for these two extraordinary men. it's hard anymore for anyone to follow their heart and still make a passable living so we get stuck being zombies
yep, a lot of people do certain jobs now, not because they like it, but because it pays good money. But i think it was Johnny Carson who said that no one should EVER continue doing a job that they don't like. If you do something you like, you'll have inner peace and you'll be happy with yourself. At least, that's what Johnny said. lol It's just rare to have someone do something just because they love to do it...at least now-a-days anyhow
yea i totally agree...i think its pathetic how people will assume someone is gay becoz there best friend is a guy, or because they hug n stuff like that, people are so judgmental these days...the days of jer n dean were unique in so many ways, the only bad thing about those days was...they did'nt have cool jeans lol....jk....but yea its so good that they were in it for the fun and for there fans, not for the money!
yep....i know wat ya mean....my cousins do it all the time....lol....its really frustrating...especially when they say that a show is'nt funny when they have only seen about 2 of them.....so annoying
It's funny that people were so comfortable with the many messages that M&L's touching sent at the time. People thought they were sexy individually and were comfortable with the touching as a simple act of showbiz-y affection; they were comfortable with the knockabout aspect of the act that necessitated the hitting and falling, as well as the stage-savvy helping up and dusting off that signalled to the audience that they were just kidding. Then there were the characters - kids, etc. All touchy
What a gorgeous man... so very good looking. Thank god I married a man who looks like Jerry!
