  • ahh, finally the vid i wish i watched for this great song of the 60's, with the right version. Great job

  • This movie isn't a tribute to war, this movie clearly states that war is a piece of SHIT. No one should ever go to war, there is nothing "good" about war...I guess that was one of the many intentions Oliver Stone had with this film...Showing the shit he and his partners and all the vietnam vets had to endure...A fucking tragedy! There is nothing heroic about war! NOTHING HEROIC ABOUT KILLING SOMEONE! And I want to add that I'm not a hippie, or a weed smoker...

  • SAMCRO

  • platoon best vietnam war movie so far its on the levey of apocalypse now.it beats boys in coy c, full metal jacket, hamberger hill and deer hunter.

  • @Trunkmonkey97 i have to agree with you.

  • its about being together in times of trouble

  • great song! :)

  • Just to say..No disrespect to anyone in armed forces but... US casualties of Vietnam war approx 58,000. Vietnamese casualties between approx. military and civilian total 250,00 to roughly 3 million. Just saying... ace song mind and good film.

    (layman calculations btw)

  • @b1tchandmoan Don't be a pussy, Mr. "just saying"...what's your real point? It's passive aggressive at best. Why not bring up Japanese casualties from WWII & tell us about the "injustice" of Hiroshima next? Your version of America is that corporations are evil polluters, the military is imperialistic, and the founding fathers were racist slave owners. That's a bit cynical & is often the perspective of somebody who hasn't produced anything by virtue of their own physical or intellectual labor.

  • @petersbra73 Well for one, I'm no Mr. Two, I like this film as a perspective from someone in it. I'm no pussy. I just feel that anything regarding the Vietnam war. Where, I might add, I wasn't any where near being born. Seems to come across about how bad it was for the Americans. I was trying to be polite not passive agressive. It's a concept you might not understand. You know. You know nothing of what I have done in my life or even if I'm male or female.

  • @petersbra73 I'd just like to add to you personally, You seem like you've studied. Hooray! Maybe you should have spent a bit more time having fun then you might not be so hate filled. You know, like sending narky replies to someone you don't know and making a judgement on them. My advice to you, think before you message strangers that haven't been hate filled like you.

  • @b1tchandmoan To anyone that took offence to this comment.. I'd just like to say it wasn't meant to offend I was just putting my input in and not looking for arguements with people with nothing better to do. Hence the reason I classed myself as a layman.. You know, someone with only basic information. Peace and love to everyone else.

  • 9 persons are of the vietcong.

  • one of my fave tunes of all time cant fault it

  • ohyeah

  • Great Film.

    Great Song.

    Great Memories.

  • 2d Battalion, 35th Infantry 4th Div. Bro you are so right that it is all good. Songs of Motown helped me make it through that hell. Going to the wall this Labor Day; just hoping it will rain so people will not see my tears as I touch my buddies names. Glad people respect our new buds and dont spit in their faces like they did to me in 69". Songs of today dont have the meaning of back then!

  • @dbworld54 OMG you actually fight in that livin hell,im 12 and i love hearin about peoples stories, were did u fight i hope you dont mnd me askin

  • @dbworld54 massive respect for what you did mate im from the uk but i feel such admeration for u us soldiers who served in that hell..... with any luck i'll be joining my countrys army soon and i'll earn the right to hold my head high.

  • @dbworld54 Nice touch mate. Cant imagine the shit you went through as I wasnt even alive then. I guess films only touch the surface as to what it was actually like.

  • @villan81 Thanks dude. I still have nightmares of the hell hole. The ambushes were the worse time you can imagine. Some night we just sat there and saw nothing; other time we were running through the jungles to save our lives

  • Such a good anti-war movie. Well acted, well-written, the choreography is very Vietnam, and the soundtrack is top-notch

  • @BohemianAsh Platoon wasn't really an anti-war film. It was based on Oliver Stone's experiences during the war and is more of a tribute to those who fought and lost loved ones during that pointless conflict.

  • @OutridersGhost nope-a bunch of peace-loving freaks who spit on those who fight for a cause. Those who fall back and run from gunfire and enemy invasion while the rest of U.S do the job.

  • @tfoen7678 What "cause" are you talking about? What invasion? What is the problem with peace? Why did you join the military? I guess you only wanted to kill people and have a moral excuse to do it so you won't feel bad when you do it...I don't understand how this movie can make someone want to join the army and go to war...It clearly shows how horrible and unhumane are the conditions of a war...Things like raping, killing innocent people, having your body maimed and scarred for life...

  • @finias246 Well the cause would be the calling of the bugle to defend the United States, Lady Liberty, Uncle Sam and the people within the country. I love peace and do not wish harm on anyone unless they hurt someone liberty or peace. I have not been in combat but joined because I do not want anyone to die for me, I trained to be a medic in the military and have seen the horrors and gore of what a bullet and explosives can do to a body and armored vehicles.

  • Plus I was a victim of the star spangle banner of honor, loyal to my country, and patriotic pride. A lot of my classmates and best friends went over while I stayed behind; I had to get medically cleared to go into the military. Also it was a different time then when the U.S. was advising South Vietnam be strong against the Communist North, but then got messed up when Armed Forces landed in 1959 and you know the rest. So understand-I only want Peace on Earth while assist those who stand up...

  • to the invisible invasion of evil planting it's root on the innocent.

  • at :16 Sheen threw a fit according to Oliver Stone - for making him do the scene shirtless - the rocks were hitting him - Stone called him a "pussy" on the set,

  • Sheen later said in an interview that to this day when he lights up a cigarette, his first thought is the filming of this movie(smoking cigs was mandatory)..

  • I know every word to this tune.I have used it on a few laddies on a night out,It works ;) And im only 21 i love old music it's great.

  • great movie and one of the reasons i joined the military

  • @stargazers0008 yup-same here,

But my unit is a bunch of weenies, no deployment, no movement to any attach units going over.

    More power of there, dude/dude-ette.

    PEACE!!!!

  • @tfoen7678 LOL im sorry. 1st Battalion 3rd Marines Combat Assault Company. Oorah, PFC Zach Compton.

  • Love charlies 80's haircut in this movie though it's supposed to be the 60's lol

  • this movie is legit!!!

  • @alienws21 Yes it is, on the light side

  • It seems Vietnam vets are overlooked in comparison to others IMO. Bless those guys and the hell they endured.

  • @asilaydying2234 Fortunately, they aren't as overlooked now as they were in the late 1970s. We had a giant hangover from Vietnam that effectively made us afraid to get involved anywhere else. As someone once said, "the only thing necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing."

  • @wildkrrd

"As someone once said, "the only thing necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing.""

    Right on brother.

  • THE best war movie ever. All war movies now are so black and white, good vs. evil, America vs. the villains etc. This movie really shows the shades of gray, the loyal soldiers with good intentions and the cruel ones who acted like bullies and abused their power.

War is never black and white and I wish more people would open their mind and see that.

  • @wadehjb Great movie, but not better than Apocalypse Now.

  • @MosDopeBoy Why? Because it's more realistic than Apocalypse Now? Oh, please. Apocalypse Now may have been cool and all back in the day but Platoon and Full Metal Jacket are the two most realistic. Did you know that they were both written and directed by vets? You know, the people that actually went to Vietnam, not just people who assumed what could have happened. A green beret Lt. Colonel wouldn't have gone rogue back then. Our regular troops did, but Apocalypse Now is just a load of fantasy.

  • @Transformers2themax Why you mad? I love Platoon, I just like Apocalypse Now better.

  • @MosDopeBoy No, I'm not mad. I'm just getting aggravated from people saying how much they love Apoc-Now and how realistic it is when it's probably the only Vietnam war film they've ever seen. There's no point in comparing it to Platoon. It's art and anyone who has the common courtesy to understand any work should know that; however, the vets didn't react to it so well. If you want something pure, something so realistic that people cower at the name of it.......stay with Platoon and try FMJ.

  • @MosDopeBoy Everyone says Apocalypse Now is the best because they often don't have a clue about the history behind it. That's why I hate film critics.

  • Awesome video, thanks for uploading.

  • PLATOON. BEST VIETNAM MOVIE EVER!!!

  • @BigMrJuarez I have to disagree with you there , I served in Vietnam from nov of 66 till july 70 and for my money the best one was the Boys of Company C , you might be too young for that one but check it out .

  • @truck87654321 I heard about it but have not seen it. I'm gonna check it out. I love watching movies about the military.Thank you for serving our country!!!

  • @truck87654321 ,tante testi tante cervelli, opinions are as many as people, but Company C was definitely a good one too.But Platoon and Full Metal Jacket had it right too.In the end it was a sad period..

  • @BigMrJuarez Apocalypse Now>>>

  • Good tune

  • put your mouth round this....

  • Back in those days some just wanted to leave the chaos of cramp of drug going into a world full of drug and a war we didn't needed to been this was a song I remember as a little girl when my brother went of to war in the late 60's

  • Great song as regards young men dying for nothing a guy once said "its like throwing snowballs at a bonfire" i know this only too well coming from a country still at war will it ever end is anyones guess maybe someday we will all be free love@light.

  • I am Russian, but the song is amazing!!!

  • ALL OF YOU STFU.......

  • for those of you who have travelled through vietnam you will see that america might of lost the battle but won the war in the end.

  • @jimbo22332 Not really. That place was a death trap then and is still a death trap. Ya sure, maybe some of the cities are safe but that place is still fucked up with commies.

  • @jimbo22332 losing over 50,000 men with nothing to show for it, and you call that "winning"?

  • @Ripmatic your forgeting mate vietnam was a battle in a huge war against communism, witch started at the end of the second world war,and ended in the fall of ussr and the berlin wall, alot more than 50,000 died in that war,and nothing to show for it,east germany free eastern europe free, soviet union collapsed thats wot the fight was over

  • @jimbo22332 yeah i know. america was actually supporting the Viet Minh during WW2, who was lead by Ho Chi Minh. but then america fucked off and gave vietnam back into French control.

The Vietnam War did not cause the fall of communism in USSR.

  • @Ripmatic You are looking at Vietnam with 20/20 hindsight. Back during the closing days of WWII Britain was an ally. Britain was also a colonial empire and for this reason the U.S. didn't push the issue. I have wondered what president Kennedy would have done had he lived. Looking back we can see what a mistake we made but back during the early 60s would Kennedy have pulled out risking looking like he backed down from communist aggression?

  • @Johnnyqwest1 yeah obviously i have hindsight, im just sayin it was more than stopping communism, or some boats being fired upon in Tonkin.

  • for those of you who have travelled through vietnam you will see that america might of lost the battle but won the war in the end

  • Vietnam 1- USA 0... next time stay home watching baseball..........=))turutururuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu...dudududuuuuuuuuu!!! go Smokeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyy....................

  • @FerrariDaytona1969

wtf are u talking about? If US wanted they could have blown up the entire north of the country. It definitely wasn't an issue of not having a strong enough army. Everybody lost in that war,, and it is good that US came to its senses, realizing that it wasn't worth killing so many people to achieve a stupid victory, because, if we were inhuman enough, we definitely could have

  • I was totally touch by this when I first heard it in the movie....we from Jaws band ( a seventies rock cover band )honor all our troops in every gig we play..God Bless you all in Jesus name amen..

  • I was totally touch by this when I first heard it in the movie....we from Jaws band honor all our troops in every gig we play

  • WHAT A SONG LOVE IT!!!!!

  • "God damn swamp rats"

    Clint "the Mans' Man" Eastwood

  • 84 Charlie Mopic > Platoon.

    Excellent song though.

  • ahh platoon :) xx

  • that s the way the gook laughs

  • this and apacolypse now are the best war movies ever made. This song is just amazing too

  • this and apacolypse now are no doubt the 2 best films about vietnam, also this is a awesome song thats gotta make you feel happy

  • Amazing movie. this song makes me think of that part when chris, king, and the sarge are all singing it

  • This video for this song is perfect, job well done. Those kids sent to Vietnam were fresh outta high school, didn't have an idea of the death/conditions where they were going! They had no choice, you had all them buring draft cards, WTF, long haired hippies who love America but will not sacrafice a damn thing for it, I despise most of the protestors, their cowardice STINKS!! If all of them would've joined the military, maybe things would've been better???

  • onell was a pussy

  • let iraq became another vietnam....Fuck american!

    Hasta la victoria siempre!

  • @france676 Your Doctor wishes you to make an appointment. Urgently.

  • Great Flick & Great Motown Classic!
