Thank you. I live in Kursk. It's been awhile since I've been to the Central Command Hdqrs for the KTBattle but I'll be taking visitors in a few weeks. Would you mind if I took this video to the little museum there? I've always thought they could use 'technical' help to make it more informative for foreign visitors. Until we went with a WWII expert (he was 17!) who knew what questions to ask, we didn't get the full import of that battle and the tremendous suffering & sacrifice of the people.

It's always a rule to have 3 to 1 advantage when on the offensive also the Russian had been given to much time to prepare their defense...

The Sowiets did of course not have the victory, the their reserves were exhausted when the southern part of the German armies were already preparing for a break through in the Sowiet pocket. However, the Sowiets launched a strategically very clever counterattack in the North which threatened the Germans immensley. Hitler has once again wasted precious resources for nothing.

soviet did not win this battle. It was rather a stand off or a Pyrrhic victory by the germans. If you see the statistics of the battle the germans had 1/10th of the soviet losses. Do bring this up as a great soviet victory is nothing but a great achievment of the soviet propagande at that time.
It was a major strategic defeat for the Germans. They would never launch an effective offensive on the Eastern Front after the losses at Kursk, and effectively handed strategic initiative to the Soviets on a silver platter.
War, ultimately, is more than just a game of attrition. That the Soviets lost 2-3x more men and materiel is irrelevant.

It was the greatest battle in WW2. More 6000 tanks, 20000 guns and mortar, more 4000 planes, more 2 millions soldiers were used. Fascists were kick backed at 200-300 km. It was the turning point in the WW2 history. German global departure was begun since the Kursk Battle.

Yeah, the battle at Prochorovka has after all these years turned out to be a soviet propaganda number. They knew very well where the german panzerkorps was and sent in the reserve armored corps to counter, the ensuing battle was chaotic and raged for days. However it was not a decisive blow to the german panzer arm, it was the months of heavy attrition that defeated the german panzers not one single battle.

This battle was lost before it started. Hitler wanted his newest tanks involved in the battle, the Tiger and the Panther, so he waited for these tanks to come online for the battle. Interesting that in April 1943 there were only 50 Panthers and 25 Tiger tanks coming off the assembly line each month. Compared to approximately 1000 T34's produced each month for the Soviets. Hitler stopped "operation citadel" and sent divisions to Sicily to challenge the Allied landings at that location.
The Soviets also received 120,000 trucks and 24,000 scout cars and jeeps in 1943 and another 122,000 trucks in 1944 from the US. This gave the Soviet Army the much needed mobility they did not have previously.

Hitler was farting around in N Africa in 1941-42. Plus the 1943-44 bombing took a lot of resources away from the OstFront, and having to fight in France and Italy didn't help.
If the US & UK let Germany go against Russia without any aid, it would have been one helluva fight and I don't know who would have won. It might have come down to a draw, both sides trading the same 200km strip of Russia over & over.

The USSR did do the most damage. The war was won, and lost, on the eastern front. The truth is that neither side could have won without the other. The western allies could not win without soviet manpower, and the soviet union could not put their manpower to good use without the help of western industrial production. Anything from canned foods to railroad carts and rare compounds for explosives came from the west. 50% of all aircraft aluminum came from west. Both sides conveniently forget.

Nonsense: the Germans lost at Kursk because OKH had been thoroughly penetrated by Soviet Intelligence. The Russian front commanders knew of the Kursk Offensive before the German commanders ! That's the absolute truth. The Soviet Air Force swept down on German forward airfields as the Germans were preparing to take off, destroying much of the attacking Luftwaffe on the ground. The Sovs knew exactly when and where the German units were attacking.
The Soviet Air Force tried to swept down German airfields, but missed the targets and German fighters shot down most of the attackers... For excample - think about battle of Prokhorovka: Soviets lost over 21000 men and 334 tanks, but Germans only almost 5500 men and 25 tanks!!

Thank you. I live in Kursk. It's been awhile since I've been to the Central Command Hdqrs for the KTBattle but I'll be taking visitors in a few weeks. Would you mind if I took this video to the little museum there? I've always thought they could use 'technical' help to make it more informative for foreign visitors. Until we went with a WWII expert (he was 17!) who knew what questions to ask, we didn't get the full import of that battle and the tremendous suffering & sacrifice of the people.

a very few made their objectives, certainly the kursk railway, but the germans had logistical malfunctions within the massed russian defences, and were comprehensively outflanked. good job.

Germans had 92-109 APV's and russians maximum 393 between 10.7-12.7.43 In fact, it is smaller than a battle that took place between the French and the Germans in 1940. In front of Gembloux on May 14-15, two full-strength Panzer divisions (each with about 300 tanks) squared off with two full-strength French Light Mechanized Divisions (each with about 260 tanks).

It's always a rule to have 3 to 1 advantage when on the offensive also the Russian had been given to much time to prepare their defense...

The Sowiets did of course not have the victory, the their reserves were exhausted when the southern part of the German armies were already preparing for a break through in the Sowiet pocket. However, the Sowiets launched a strategically very clever counterattack in the North which threatened the Germans immensley. Hitler has once again wasted precious resources for nothing.

soviet did not win this battle. It was rather a stand off or a Pyrrhic victory by the germans. If you see the statistics of the battle the germans had 1/10th of the soviet losses. Do bring this up as a great soviet victory is nothing but a great achievment of the soviet propagande at that time.

It was a major strategic defeat for the Germans. They would never launch an effective offensive on the Eastern Front after the losses at Kursk, and effectively handed strategic initiative to the Soviets on a silver platter.
War, ultimately, is more than just a game of attrition. That the Soviets lost 2-3x more men and materiel is irrelevant.

Я не про сталина а про то что регулярная армия не умела воевать офицэры были ужасные а те ктоо знал толк в стратегии сидел в лагерях ...
а те кто не сидел сидели тихо так как умные колхозники сами знали что делать ..

Ну да, умеющие воевать поляки, французы и англичане - за пару недель развалились, а тупые колхозники удержались, и не только удержались, но и разгромили лучшую в мире военную машину. Несмотря на ее тотальное преимущество в 41-42 годах.

СССР был не клоп какойто а Огромная страна с вооружением на треть больше чем у Германии. СССР готовил армию к войне но руководство не думало что Германия начнёт войну . Вот тебе и на что в первый день войны полегла огромная армия.

СССР имел на тот момент около 24 тысяч Т-34.
около одного милиона десанта ... Это огромная армия была разгромлена .
Вторую мировую взяли мужеством упорством и силой.

Не то что мы победили войну и мы крутые это да .. Но какой ценой платили за ошибки это плохо . + За немцев воевало много народу.

Всего в 4 западных округах было около 6500 исправных танков, считая такие уёжища, как Т-27 и Т-38, рядом с которыми "единичка" - вундерваффе. Без обеспечения, фактически.
Против примерно такого же количества немецких, несопоставимо более мощных и обеспеченных всем под завязку.

Мб это не тот вдв как у нас сейчас .. Но это войска . + Какова фига на границе стояло такая армия ? Причем не в оборонительной позиции ..

Всего в Советской Армии насчитывалось 3млн военнослужащих на начало 1941 г. Это данные МО. И это по всей огромной стране, включая погранвойска. Да танков было до хрена, но это была техника актуальная только до 35 г. Тонюсенькая броня и бензиновый движок.

It was the greatest battle in WW2. More 6000 tanks, 20000 guns and mortar, more 4000 planes, more 2 millions soldiers were used. Fascists were kick backed at 200-300 km. It was the turning point in the WW2 history. German global departure was begun since the Kursk Battle.
Some western people don't know it or don't want to know it..

@nurmiar zhukov outnumbered manstien in troops, manpower,supplies ,tanks etc!! at kursk manstien lost 50,000 men while zhukov lost 185,000 yet the russians won the battle??!! strange!!!

This battle was not a clear victory for the Soviets. The Germans were actually doing very well until Hitler cancelled the mission.

Yeah, the battle at Prochorovka has after all these years turned out to be a soviet propaganda number. They knew very well where the german panzerkorps was and sent in the reserve armored corps to counter, the ensuing battle was chaotic and raged for days. However it was not a decisive blow to the german panzer arm, it was the months of heavy attrition that defeated the german panzers not one single battle.

@cbiwv If its not Hitler, then its the weather...at Moscow the germans blames the winter..at Stalingrad it was the winter again..but, at Kursk it was summer, so then they blame Hitler..in 1941 the germans did not defeat the russians , altough it was summer and Russia did not get any help from USA..so, who to blame then? Hitler or the weather...1944 in the summer, they could not win, why? What kind of weather do the germans need to win a battle or a war?

This battle was lost before it started. Hitler wanted his newest tanks involved in the battle, the Tiger and the Panther, so he waited for these tanks to come online for the battle. Interesting that in April 1943 there were only 50 Panthers and 25 Tiger tanks coming off the assembly line each month. Compared to approximately 1000 T34's produced each month for the Soviets. Hitler stopped "operation citadel" and sent divisions to Sicily to challenge the Allied landings at that location.

The Soviets also received 120,000 trucks and 24,000 scout cars and jeeps in 1943 and another 122,000 trucks in 1944 from the US. This gave the Soviet Army the much needed mobility they did not have previously.

Hitler was farting around in N Africa in 1941-42. Plus the 1943-44 bombing took a lot of resources away from the OstFront, and having to fight in France and Italy didn't help.
If the US & UK let Germany go against Russia without any aid, it would have been one helluva fight and I don't know who would have won. It might have come down to a draw, both sides trading the same 200km strip of Russia over & over.

The USSR did do the most damage. The war was won, and lost, on the eastern front. The truth is that neither side could have won without the other. The western allies could not win without soviet manpower, and the soviet union could not put their manpower to good use without the help of western industrial production. Anything from canned foods to railroad carts and rare compounds for explosives came from the west. 50% of all aircraft aluminum came from west. Both sides conveniently forget.

I have to thank Germans to their effort to destroy communism and their help to us - by the way Germans won the battle of Kursk (when the Allies started invasion of Italy, they had to retreat), but lost the war... What a painter missed - a film star succeeced.

Nonsense: the Germans lost at Kursk because OKH had been thoroughly penetrated by Soviet Intelligence. The Russian front commanders knew of the Kursk Offensive before the German commanders ! That's the absolute truth. The Soviet Air Force swept down on German forward airfields as the Germans were preparing to take off, destroying much of the attacking Luftwaffe on the ground. The Sovs knew exactly when and where the German units were attacking.

The Soviet Air Force tried to swept down German airfields, but missed the targets and German fighters shot down most of the attackers... For excample - think about battle of Prokhorovka: Soviets lost over 21000 men and 334 tanks, but Germans only almost 5500 men and 25 tanks!!
Battle of Kursk is mainly a myth or a lie (propaganda)...

Pointing out Soviet military blunders is pretty easy. Yet they overwhelmed and won. They could have sunk all their resources making 1000 semi-invincible tanks like Germans did. They chose 80000 t-34s, plus others, and won. And soon after Kursk, their airforce actually started to look like one as well.
