This was the first song that rang out of your stereo when you put that "Great Wide Open' CD in. I was a kid back then and it was the first time I'd head Tom. Right then after those opening chords I was hooked and the rest is history.
haha when the pool kid kisses the lady at 2:00 .... I was about 8 when I saw this for the first time, I think it made a deep impression forever of sexuality on me, and I was too young to live out all those sexual pulsions this video brought out in me. For years after that I dreamt of kissing random women in bikinis. It still has that effect today.
ominous it is. To many things are coming together pointing to a major event.
Anyone have any clue why nuclear subs keep colliding? Two in a week plus another Navy collision. Full out war in Mexico on the border, something very big is happening and it end very scarry.
Think about how big something would have to be to get us in another war now, and whatever that thing is it looks like its right around the corner.
what ever happens will happen wars or anything thats life and in the end the human race will destroy its self cause we are stupid enough 2 bulid the wepons that can destory the world and life
I just ordered the 4 disc set of "runnin' down a dream" it's like 3 dvds and 1 cd, the first 2 are the documentary that was directed by Peter Bogdanovich and the 3rd disc is the concert, the 4th disc is rare recordings
This is just a beautiful rendition of this song. I think only Tom Petty can out-do himself. When I watched the 30th anniversary concert for the first time, I could not believe what he did with this. Completely different meaning. I love it!
LesSmith. I've seen all of his concerts in the last 4 years. All were great and I hate to see you lose out on that experience...At least you can see the live performances here
Negative comments about Tom Petty? wow. Tom Petty is not my fav artist. He is #3 prior to pearl Jam and the rolling stones, BUT TOM petty rights the most meaningful songs i have ever heard of. I want somebody to challenge me to see if I'm incorrect.!! TP!
i actually seen this concert with Stevie Nicks at the Clark County Ampitheatre in washington. It was absolutly awesome. I missed his last concert here just last month. I had tickets for him and Stevie Winwood at the gorge in washington but the night before the concert my house burnt to the ground and needless to say so did the tickets also lost my Heart, Journey & Cheap Trick tickets and my Robert Plant and Alison Krauss tickets. But i survived.
saw him last night in tampa. friggin amazing performer/musician. I will call him the king of rock and roll. He was inspired by a meeting with elvis as a child and I believe he fulfilled his dream- you know the one he's running down. Tom Petty- the king of rock and roll
So brilliant,i heard this song first time 2001 at the radio and i falled in love. When i hear this song iam in a good mood really amazing...and now the 2006 version omg soooo gorgeous his voice is better as 91 cant believe.03.13 till 03.18 u hear this? nobody makes it better, i guess he is the best singer i ever heard.
Hes great i agree and i give you a plus for saying that! But i think Roy Orbinson comes very close, i even think Tom would admit that himself that Roy is unbeatable.
Tom Petty is the best. If you read this Tom, know that you have touched my heart. Your music rocks, but you also have songs that are just so beautiful and expressive. This song is amazing, I thank you for making music so much better.
most amazing performance i have ever saw by him. this song just wants you tell your wife you love her. i have seen him four times since 2000 and he is fu--ing amazing. i grew up on this and it rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tom petty and the haertbreakers are the best band ever... that concert last semptember in 2006 at the hollywood bowl was So damn awsome!! i love tom petty

Tom Petty - Learning to fly
Well I started out down a dirty r oad Started out all alone
And the sun went down as I crossed the hill
The town lit up the world got still
Im learning to fly but I aint got wings
Comin down is the hardest thing
Well the good old days may not return
And the rocks might melt, and the sea may burn
Im learning to fly but I aint got wings
Comin down is the hardest thing
