@TheMatthewp23 he abit quick for you but he was actually covering the hook & making a strike at the same time. He just showing the principle of Forward Intent. Elbow shields can be a weapon & look at Keysi, KFM they base it mostly on this concept. Ducking a good option to but that really abit harder to do than your first choose. enjoy the info & have a nice day :)

changwanglib I dont understand how you think this is kung fu demo stuff it doesnt look flashy at all like wushu (which isnt even kung fu more so than it is chinese communist ballet). In fact like most street boxing its quite ugly! but its simple to the point and practical when you see someone fill the openings after the initial hook and they have all that space to land strikes and headbutts how is that not good for self defense??
Re Changwanglib: Perhaps the problem is that this bit of clip doesn't really show the structure of the modified cover, but I can assure you it works for my students in "non-competition" situations just fine.
Yes, I wish I didn't make those noises myself, Mastertran, but it just seems to help me in the flow of things! I've noticed that all of my teachers made noises of some kind when they teach. Funny stuff.
@downtownselfdefense It's done for the timing of the technique. If he was actually hitting the person he would time his rhythm based on the feeling he received from the impacts. But since he doesn't actually hit his student he's using those noises for the timing of his combos.
@downtownselfdefense Meh, it's nothing to worry about if you ask me. Everyone seems to have their own set of noises that just happen haha. I do a kind of Disturbed-esque growl sometimes when we're going at it on the pads, etc which is a little bit weird. Just one of those things I guess. :P
Mmm .. To do that you need a lot of training and timing. Better to cover a hook or duck.

Steve's the King of Inside, changwanglib
...And you're an ignorant man...at least about this.
He's in L.A., ..you should go see him...You'll find that he's not a "demo" or "competition" kinda guy.

I had 1 or 2 of these tapes a long time ago, and I always wondered why he made those goofy noises? Still, he has lots of knowledge.
