@EvanFilms - No it is not a full swap of the dash. The cluster was wired into the RS harness and definitely took some time to install and work properly, but it defintiely is a cool feature of the vehicle.
@wknose ah thats what i figured but i just wanted to make sure, how was the fitment inside the rs dash? didnt you have to shave anything down or do anything special to make it fit?
Well that makes a LOT more sense... when you said there was no BOV, I figured there wasn't any thing to relieve the pressure at all (hence my previous comment)
Subaru's use convection (as coolant cools it contracts creating suction, circulating the coolant from the overflow) to cool the turbo after the engine is shut off. So no, he doesn't need to let anything cool down before he shuts it off. If it was an OIL ONLY cooled turbo then yes, but since Subaru uses OIL and COOLANT to cool the turbo it's just not necessary.
Got a question for ya, im looking at your Cluster Gauge its not the original of course. what what year of Impreza did that come out of, and also ive been wondering how easy are those to swap into the 1998-01 rs?
You are correct it is subjective. I drive this car up to Mammoth every year for snowboarding and every day to and from work. So it has to deal with cold, hot, altitude, and all while making about 400hp / 330whp. It is not an extreme amount by any means for just that reason, reliability and drivability.
ELH?

I am not a Subaru wiz but from previous comments and your comments, there is no BOV but there is a turbo?
That was a nice launch too by the way..

Compression surge... might wanna get that looked at.
GCimprezaFTW 2 years ago
Huh... You mean the sound from having no blow off valve? That is how you keep the power between shifts. Good stuff!!!
NOTE: Did you know this turbo has nearly 100,000 miles on it with no BOV.
wknose 2 years ago
No shit?! Is it wastegated?
GCimprezaFTW 2 years ago
It has an internal wastegate to control the boost levels of course.

How much boost are you running?
GCimprezaFTW 2 years ago
Ah, makes sense.
I am running about 20 PSI with a FMIC. Nothing crazy.
wknose 2 years ago
That's not bad at all, and it seems pretty easy to drive. Anyway, nice car man, keep the vids coming
GCimprezaFTW 2 years ago
Is this car still for sale?
noahandshell 2 years ago
you might wanna start thinking about letting the turbo cool off and release the gases be4 you turn it off. NICE suby

Still very nice. Where was this clip taken?

Thanks I appreciate it. I took the clip in the San Diego area.

How much drivability, realiability and power are we talking about?? :-) Some things are subjective.
