also, when you say, "you can spend your life focusing on a mythology", it leaves the door wide open for christians to say, "you are spending your life focusing on my focusing on a mythology". to that i would say, "i make no claims of your demise differing from mine."
dude, you had me cringing for a moment there, because so many of us think that religion is fine. we are taught to, 'let people believe what they want to'. although i haven't been watching many videos over the past year, and this is the first of your's that i've seen in a long while...you made my day with your comment, "no, it is not okay to believe in a religion".
i feel (as sam harris) it 'enables' fundamentalists, and even terrorists, by simply giving them a larger group to call their's.
You need to believe in something whether its faith or something else. It's a fact of life. In fact if you believe in nothing you might as well be dead. Think about it if you don't believe in life at the fundamentals you should just off yourself.
Not trying to offend yourself but deep down everything can be a fairy tale if you think it is.
i was wondering if you could answer a question? what are your opinions on religion in general and by that i mean alot of atheists ive met think that religion is an institution to comfort the stupid (and ive heard a few say that word for word) and i was wondering if you felt the same way? i myself am a wiccan and i believe that all religions are right because they all lead to the same higher power (as alot of wiccans do). so please tell me your oppinion. blessed be
@birdman1592 Early religion was a creation of man to explain natures fury. Later they added the concept of the afterlife to make themselves feel less afraid of dying. I believe close to the way you do. All religions lead to the same end. Not a higher power but an empty promise. Some would argue its stupid people who believe. I say its the fearful people. They are afraid of oblivion so grab at any chance of eternal life, no matter how absurd the concept is.
1) Thanks for calling me attractive! 2) Thank you for, once again, making such a helpful video on my questions. I can always count on you for a serious, thought-provoking answer.
Hey I've seen a few of your videos and I was just wondering, whats your view on life? I personally view life as a joke. By that I mean I have realized that I will die eventually and that all I may have done in life is for nothing. I am a firm believer that time consumes all things and that no success can make you eternally remembered for, a million years from now noone will even know we existed. What do you think? Do you agree?
@Crosisborg errrm the loud parts of your voice keep attenuating to the same level as the quiet parts. Like a pumping compressor or limiter. Good video by the way.
Interesting. Well said, Crosis. You know, religion always has a tendency to use morality and goodness as an exploition avenue to benefit itself and and keep itself afloat. It's has always been the ultimate playing card when you really think about. Just have a conversation with any religious person about atheism or the nonreligious and the morality issue will always come up. It is always used as a justification or exuse for keeping religion important when the one of the reasons
@Chuloloc for not being religious is because it has not morals at all. So religion's link with morality all basically boils down the human need for ethics and moral order has reason for totalitatian control, both generally and religiously. This is why religion is such a cancer.
I found the recent report on 'Happiest Countries' very interesting and related to this video. Norway came out first again(3x) for this great label. The report also mentioned that 13% stated they attend church. Of the top 5, 4 countries are predominantly nondelusional. I find this incredibly telling. Crime rate was another factor measured. This corrrelates with 'goodness' in my book. So much for religion making us respect others.
@Justinfh2point0 Both of those still require you to put energy towards the ridiculous such as ceremony, prayer, meditation and dedication instead of using it for the world around you.
I haven't watched the video yet, but I'm just glad to see a video from you. PLEASE make more videos! You've been a favorite of mine for quite some time.

Indeed
I also dislike the sting "What if you belief so you become a good person" ahum...if you need an external force to be good are you good to begin with?

To those who feel you have to believe in something, believe in yourself.
Excelion333 2 months ago
Yeah! Great to see a new video from you.
And no, I don't have the need to believe in anything supernatural.... as for natural things, I have that desire.
What gets on my nerves is people who DO feel that need, and try to tell me that I do too. Morons...

Here are the 4 nondelusional happy countries;
Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Australia. The other, NZ, I am not sure if they are losing their religion as well.

There is no harmful way to believe in/follow a religion? What about religions such as Buddhism, and Laveyan Satanism?
