  • I understand the point of shorter segments if using these videos in a classroom setting, but I LOVE the longer videos. Watching them is like a very pleasant visit with an artisan friend. Please don't change the way you're doing these, Simon, ramblings and all!

  • The issue of length is interesting. While I see Harshaw's point, I find myself not wanting the clips to end. I always feel I've dropped into your studio and I'm sipping a coffee while you chat and work. The spontaneity is filled with all kinds of valuable information and still retains the neighbourly feeling of community. Thanks

  • Simon,

I want to say you that I'm really happy if I can see you posted a new 20-25 minute clip.

For me hear and watch your clips is a moment of relax. I'm quite happy with the clips as they are length wise. The real value of your clips is the spontaneity.

    Keep posting clips!

  • Simon, please take this with all the good intentions it is meant, but your clips are getting too long. When you were forced to make a presentation and show something in the 10 minute limit you were much better. It is not that you are not a good teacher, you are, but you could get more to the point and be more effective. I show your clips to my classes and the short one hold their attention, these longer clips are just too long. Shorter is better, and I say that with all love.

  • @HarshawJ Yes you maybe right, I should segment them more into particular demos and not ramble on so much.

Its partly because i am rather spontaneous about them, and they are not edited. Thanks for your comment as I am interested to hear other educators perspectives. SL

  • @sleachpots It is interesting you say this as I know there are folks who are quite happy with the clips as they are length wise , it is difficult to please all, I do take your point though , SL

  • @sleachpots I completely disagree. I love longer clips! Make them the same size or longer please! I love to see all the parts of creation of pottery.

  • @sleachpots I have a whole series of *absolutely brilliant* videos that I've never made because proper scripting, lighting, editing &c. is such a pain in the a***; Better to make them long and rambling than not at all!

  • hello i'm french new potter and i love so much your videos mr leach....don't change nothing about them.....and sorry for my very bad english....!biche

  • @HarshawJ I have to agree with you. Though I still love the videos, and it is DEFINITELY great to have some longer, more intensive demonstrations, the shorter videos showed the techniques much more concisely and were easier to follow. Also, as a student, it was easier to absorb the lessons and incorporate them into my work. Sometimes the long ones can be a little overwhelming. But either way, thank you so much for the videos! I'm a huge fan.

  • what a lovely pot! Is it destined for a Raku treatment? I would love to see you throw a round form like that. I suppose its similar to the bud vase that you have shown us before... but I find closed-in forms the hardest to make (even too hard) and I think it might make a great clip. Thanks for a really helpful clip - once again I'm inspired!

  • very attractive pot
