This is brilliant-beyond-words, thank you so much!.. Who needs a method that looks messy, uneven and nothing like the rest of the piece and for that reason just stabs you in the eye with its ugly presence when you could do THIS? Thank you for sharing your magic, it is truly brilliant.
I love this technique, it is fantastic and thank you very much for sharing it with us. But I can't figure out how to change colors at the end of the row when I don't chain. I just can't figure that part out. Thanks again
@CrazySquare49: I think in the usual method of joining a new color, they tell you to pull the new color yarn through the last 2 loops of the last double crochet of the previous row anyway. So you could do it with this method, and just continue by elongating that stitch. (I hope that makes sense.)
Absolutely brilliant! Thank you so much for posting this. I'm a new crocheter (is that the word? hmmm) and the edges are my biggest headache. Hopefully this can help my crochet work start to look as nice as my knitting.
I love this idea I been crocheting for a very long time and I love how this stitch makes and even edging. Thank you for sharing learn something new each day.
Love this idea. I find it works better if I put the hook through the top of the last stitch in the previous row. It was the only way I avoided that awful twisted mess someone else mentioned. Thanks for the solution to those gapping row ends! Now to find the treble video. :D
Well, I was really excited about this, but I can't get it to work. The top of the dc has a big, floppy loop every time I try to do it. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Maybe try pulling up a smaller loop at the beginning. What about your hold? I use the knife hold & did not try it with the pencil hold. Check the text to t he video again I updated it.
THANK YOU! I hated that awful gaping hole was driving me CRAZY and I was trying everything to fix it with no luck! Like camdicmt, I'll never do a turning chain again! I'm going to check out your video for the treble stitch. :-)
I must be missing something here. I've tried this over and over again, but all I get is a twisted mess. When you explain to "pull it through two" after the first yarn over, what two are you talking about? I'm getting a little frustrated, and would love to figure this out.
Look at timestamp 0:52. There are 3 "loops" of yarn on the hook. From right to left, one that you are holding and two that are kind of tightly twisted together from the first YO. At 1:01, you see me pulling the second YO through the first YO (or the "two"). Hope this helps clear things up. Let me know if it's still muddy.
I'm betting this would work with tc too!

Is there a no chain turning single crochet?
InweTaralom 4 months ago
@InweTaralom No. The traditional way of ch1 sc in same stitch is adequate in most applications.

@WithinThisMe What flattery! I'm glad this technique could help you. Tell your friends. Together, we can break these unnecessary chains that bind us.

Very neat way to turn.
Thanks for sharing; I'd never have thought of it on my own.

So awesome thanks. The length of the loop you initially pull is critical to avoid a puffy top loop on the stitch.

Can this stitch be applied at the end of a row to a single, half double or triple crochet stitch?
WOOZIE4244 2 years ago
sc - don't really leave a gap, so I wouldn't think it necessary.
hdc - I've gone to making one long ch in lieu of 2chs. It works OK for now, since I've only made hdc puffs and it camoflages the ch well
tr - well, take a look at my other video! :)
