I will never forget when I saw them in 1982 and how totally exhausted I was afterwards - totally done - total rocking for two hours , singing screaming jumping awesome crowd in a concert hall long gone now - that was just three guys with almost no gimmicks then - amazing and immortal! THE POLICE - MAY YOU BE WITH THE FORCE.
The Police are my all time favorite band.......with that said, it was fairly clear that Sting clearly expected Stewart and Andy to fall in line and do whatever he wanted on the reunion tour & for the most part he got his wish. The "new arrangements' and slower tempos Sting enforced on some of the songs on the 07-08 Tour were fairly horrible. When they stuck to the old arrangements like on Driven To Tears and Walking on the Moon the magic was still there.Read Stewarts book...very interesting.
I think what peeps perhaps need to remember is that all three of them are getting on in age, secondly they had a lot of gigs to do and a lot of people to please and perhaps lastly, their own tastes in music is going to be prevalant in the style they play the tracks these days. All three of them enjoy Jazz (most musicians do after a while no matter how much they deny it from the outset) this brings a different gambit to how they perform. I for one enjoyed the tour and feel blessed I got to see it
I was at this concert in Hyde park and I was in Stockholm in aug. 2007. This band has meant a lot to me in a lot of years. Still I think they've made the right decision to stop now. Steward Copeland is still the best drummer on Earth, and Andy Summers still knows his stuff. But I was very disappointed that Sting seemed so tired of the songs, pronouncing badly and looked sometimes like he was just posing on the scene.
Although it's sad, The Police era is clearly over.
@aacberge definitely don't agree with you...who made you the judge of all things Sting related? For fuck's sake....it's been so many years since they originally played, Sting has every right to sing/play the songs a little differently now. People get wiser as they age....apparenly you got dumber though.
@meccaturbo I really don't claim to be the judge of all (!) things Sting do. Although I may have gotten dumber over the years, I still got the right to express my opinion about this. Sting is smart, but not a god.

Can't stand Sting's articulation in these songs from this tour. It's like he's at a lounge.

@aacberge you made a unilateral statement that Sting now sucks, and that didn't sound like just an opinion to me. Of course he's not a god....

They are playing too good to end it now.
A new studio album and tour would be awesome!
