You know Twilight wouldn't be terrible if it was done SOOOO much differently. I see by the awesome manga pics! I mean: Slightly better writing. A little bit less with all the how Vampires represent innocence and virtue, and all the 'old-fashioned' beliefs. And maybe making Bella (as well as every other character in the book) a little bit more emotional and 3 dimensional. As well as maybe give a better message to girls. Yeah, and they don't sparkle....okay you know what never mind. Leave it dead.
@MrTheaterBasement You should check out the Manga version with Young Kim's lovely artwork some time.It gives us the best of both worlds with great visiuals that tell the story while sparing us a lot of Meyer's prose (thus moving things along nicely) and gives us a Bella & Edward far, far better looking than Kristen & Robert (they're way better at emoting too!)
@Jangobadass Yeah, I've seen that comic. The artwork is nice and has the bonus of actually having the characters emote occasionally, but the text is terrible. They post the speech bubbles right over the characters' faces! It's like they're bees, fascinated with the characters' heads! It really bothers me.
@MrTheaterBasement sparkly vampires promotes satan as being all nice riding a unicorn across a rainbow :))...vampires are evil, murdererous, satan's children and blow up when they meet the sun after a night playing "lets stare at bella cause its cool"
@bluephoenix52 I think that the people who made the movies realized this. Not sure about the books though. And it might just be good ol' Bobby Pattinson who realized it, I'm not 100% sure. But yeah. It's based on him understanding her less than everybody else in the world. Yeah, I can see how that could backfire after an eternity of maried life.

Vampires had a good 1000 year run as one of the most threatening yet diginified supernatural beings in folk loref but that's all over now :)
