  • he makes a good point

  • At least Russel Crowe had a go at the accent, it was a good film anyway, unlike Prince of theives

  • Owned!

  • In German he says: "Because I, unlinke some other Robin Hood, don't Costner 5 million" well, that is the best translation I could do :/

  • @53die9storno

Really? The English version makes more sense for the joke, I think. It expresses the annoyance that such a big film with such a big budget and big stars has the lead not even attempting an English accent; for one of the most legendary heroes in English history.

  • @IAmCaptainMarvel

in italian they totally "changed" it, turned out something like:

"because unlike some other Robin Hoods i don't dance with wolves"

have to admit original one's better thou :)

  • @demonbox77

Beh, gli americani non sono famosi per la loro intelligenza, giusto? Io li odio, personalmente. (Mi scuso per il mio cattivo italiano, sto ancora imparando).

  • in italy he says: "because I am different from all other robin hood, I do not dance with the wolves"

  • and he is good at chopping peoples feet off if they aren't convinced.

  • Mind you this was years before Russell Crowe's terrible portrayal

  • I used kill wild pigs in the king's forest...knee the to arrow a took I then

  • Cary Elwes, can do drama, comedy and whatever the fuck you lay it on the table that guy would do it. A true champion amongst men.

  • I love King John`s gestures!!! xd

  • hi robin hooooood here whit another fantastic joke :)

  • Obviously directed at Kevin Costner.

  • "KING ILLEGAL FOREST TWO PIG WILD KILL IN IT A IS!!"

  • I'm Team Robin!

Cause unlike some other Robin Hoods, this one can speak with an English accent.

  • English peasant #1: "He speaks with an English accent? Fuck it, I'm in."

English peasant #2: "Yeah, me too. We're with you, Robin Hood!"

  • What language was the sheriff speaking in

  • @dlass7710 It's English. The words are just in the wrong order.

  • @Soweird666 thanks i don't know why but I thought he was speakin latin

  • @dlass7710 Rottingham's reverse speech, I think.

  • i wonder how many times it took the sheriff to say that first line

  • Kevin Costner and Russel Crowe disliked this

  • It's his smile that makes me laugh

  • kevin costner disliked this.

  • Now I understand when my English teacher told me that Received Pronunciation has power.

  • Poor Kevin Costner... Ouch! lol

  • 1 person doesnt have an english accent

  • I love the line in the Italian dub (according to imdb): "Because unlike other Robin Hoods, I do not dance with the wolves." OH SNAP.

  • this ruined kevin costner's robin hood for me. it's the only thing i think about when i come across it now heh.

  • @devilxhlywood Heh, if it makes you feel any better, Robin Hood wouldn't have spoken anything close to received pronunciation. I imagine he would have spoken some form of middle english, possibly with a touch of French.

  • @tf2whackyengineer too true. The Americans in the scene sound closer to the English accent of the time and the Sheriff would have sounded French. But it still doesn't sound right when Hollywood uses Brooklyn accents in the old historical films!

  • @devilxhlywood ...I only watch Costner's version for Will Scarlett. I've liked Christian Slater since I was a little girl~

  • never underestimate power of english accent... :)))))

  • KING ILLEGAL FOREST! TO PIG WILD! KILL IN IT A IS!!!

    ....what?

That part makes me crack up...XD

  • "Because unlike some robin hoods........I can speak with an english accent."

    YEAAAAAAAHHH!!!

  • i never get tired of this movie. I have probably seen it 80 times, and 80 times i laughed my ass off

  • I loved his accent when he voiced The Bards Tale

  • This is more topical now than ever

  • Lol, best line in the WHOLE film!!

  • Russel Crowe should check this out.

  • @omicronlegion and Kevin Costner too XD

  • @omicronlegion isn't russel crowe actually english?

  • @Theriot6592 i hope your joking -_-

  • @greedex89 no, i'm not joking, he sounds english. why, is he actually scottish or something? i can't always tell

  • @Theriot6592 He is Australien, but born in New Zealand.

  • @greedex89 Hey people can make mistakes. My friend thought Errol Flynn was English for ages when I actually enlightened him that hes Australian. Australians seem to be good English impersonators think of Hugo Weaving as V :P I will admit wouldnt put Russel Crowe in there though he's most definitely Australian XD

  • @braceyfaceanimegurl Hugo`s lived in Sydney most of his life and feels most at home there but his parents are English and his Natural Accent is A Mix of Aussie and Brit/English !

  • @omicronlegion *Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner

  • @omicronlegion Actually directed at Kevin Costner.

  • Russel Crowe should check this out.

  • I love how he looks directly into the camera when he says it.

    Cary Elwes is the best.

  • @cheesecake134 And so is Mel Brooks for coming up with that line. Unless that was an adlib by Elwes.

...I'd fear for the world if Mel Brooks and Monty Python had ever done a collaboration. That would have killed half the world's population due to heart attacks from laughing too much.

  • @cheesecake134 and the way he just smiles at the end is priceless xD

  • it wouldve been funnier if he said unlike some other robin hoods i can speak with a "british" accent english doesnt sound funny

  • @movieman410 that wouldnt make sense because British means great britain, which includes Scotland and Whales. The Scottish and Welsh (especially scottish) have a different accent than the English. So A British accent could be either English, Scottish and welsh.

  • @movieman410 No see the joke is the inflection of a American accent vs a European or "english" accent.

  • It's so true though. *coughKevinCostnercough* didn't even attempt it. haha

  • I really liked the movie, but I could do without the one riff from Home Alone.

    It seemed so unnecessary.

  • this whole movie is amazing...

  • the whole film was amazing, love this part

  • love it!

  • "He's speaking in tongues..." LOL.

  • @enigmaticnoda ROFL, I never heard that! Thanks for pointing it out!

  • LOVE this scene, best bit in the whole film :-)
