  • Haha all you windows fan boys, it's not all about the d*** specs; it's about the computer itself.

  • mine takes 21 sec HA

  • imagine windows 7 on this

  • My Mac enjoys this.....

  • faints.....

  • i can boo on windows 3.1 without 1 second of loading :P

  • well DUH! WHAT WAS THERE TO LOAD IN THE 80's!?

  • My Windows xp starts up in 10 secs. My windows 95 Laptop starts up at 30 secs

  • I HAVE THIS COMPUTER! It was used for marketing purposes for my papa's business in the eighties! What a wonder!

  • where can i buy one of these:) ?

  • In Memory of a great Man of the World of Computers.

    STEVE JOBS

Your Work and Spirit lives on.

  • Ha, all those noises it made loading took me straight back to the 80s

  • I like the sound of disk scanning.

  • Yes! We need programmers, professionals, and skills! :) today, all we have is shortcuts, bloatware, and greed. :(

  • ... so 1986 Macintosh has´nt a HDD ? But what is with addintional Software like Office or something ?

  • It's pretty sure that this Mac boots faster than Windows in the present. But, can I run Crysis 2 on this Mac????

  • I remember how noisy the old disk drives were.

  • GOD DAM my alienware M17 windows vista takes 2:13 Sec.

  • @MrDjfoti Only if it hybernates, not as it boots! ;-)

  • WHAT IS A FLOPY DISC

  • @gunslinger12 GOOD ONE!! LOL!

  • better than my computer and i approve this message

  • Commodore is WAY better than this !

  • how much do u think would they cost now?

  • @sqion check online auctions

  • can you tell me at wath refresh rate does the screen run and can you change it?

  • @simon1234simon NO can not change, and I guess was 60Hz? Anyone who know better may reply!!

  • holy shit there 5 of those things at my school

  • That was faster than my Windows 7 desktop computer with 6-core AMD Phenom:D

  • the reasone it boots so fast is that it has much less to load then windows 7 so it has to load like 20k of files and stuff wereas with my laptop i have like 1 gig to load

  • Can I sync all my music from my phone to that?

  • @Warhound360 if you have much much time and add an external haddisk to it.... Ha! Ha!

  • lol it make's a chicken sound

  • Amazing how they plan to turn Windows 8 like that so it can be booted from a USB drive! Still probably slower to boot than this.

  • Well... more CPU power = more space for "lazy programmers"

    +"lazy programmers" = +"slow softwares"

Its pretty amazing see how fast and functional were the old O.S..

It still have here my PowerBook100 with a 68k CPU... Its amazing... after upgrade the battery to Li-Po, I can work almost 12hours in one single pack charge... just keep the HD off... ... ... ...read only the necessary ... so silent... I can write in the Word for long hours... save my work in a floppy and send to other PC!

  • I like how the startup face is all like :3

  • Can it run Crysis?

  • Windows 7 take 7.265 seconds to boot

  • 800Kb? The 1984 has 400Kb! Now thats the evolution of technology! ;D

  • Dude, you need to upgrade your computer, seriously.

  • @nkingman Thank's Bro... I will think about.... lol!

  • I might be getting that model of computer!

  • @evenairlines luck you!

  • guy the difference is made by OSes. Try NetBSD on moder pcs. Fast as hell !

  • That floppy drive sounds like my Mac LC II!

  • Good ol' 80's 90's apple, always had the first hand, what happened to them? Nowadays they sell lo-end all-in-one PC's with a trimmed down version of linux, and also phones without buttons, damn, it's sad to even think about it.....

  • It looks like a standard floppy disk.Does a 1.44 MB floppy disk work with that machine

  • lol 1MB RAM

  • my linux pc boots up in 21 seconds -_-

  • sounds like my win xp ^^

  • lol

  • LOVE IT. I have a 512K and wonder if I could get it to boot!

  • Can this run Crysis?

  • Okay okay we ALL KNOW that this computer can run crysis 2 on 1080p! i think we are just jealous that we cant have a computer that does that lol

  • what sucks is that i waited for my pc to load this vid of a mac booting up.

  • wath was there to load in that time

  • how did you get a hold of this?

  • Nothing changed in 2011, mac still sucks

  • That os uses under 800 kilobyte and ubuntu uses around 690 megabytes

  • I had on of thse, found it at a garage sale, sold it for about 900 dollars no joke

  • the thing is today you boot multitask osses 1 for big brother 1 for little sister etc...

  • where can you get a boot disc

  • to be honest i doubt a pc from that year would still be online

i prefer macs because that ones still working even though its three/two decades old

unlike a pc from that year which would blow up in your face

  • @cptnsquires mine is.

  • @cptnsquires Not quite. I have an original IBM PC AT- essentially, the least common denominator of all modern PCs- which still functions well as if it were a few months old rather than 25 years old. Even it's infamously unreliable original hard drive still works.

  • @cptnsquires fanboy. lots of old PC's are running fine.

and yes we need more MHz cause like the other comment said here you like running better and more programs right? well get a better system to do so. you young kids and your not living in the time of these and dial up.

  • @cptnsquires ask it to a g3 owner

  • wtf it is coool Computer

  • digital music. not for a decade or so sunny.

  • wait so do you have to insert a floppy disk for it to work?

  • Why are the new PC computers boring compared to these old things?

  • 25 Seconds... Still beats Windows...

  • @MetalStorm96 My Windows 95 boots faster

  • @MetalStorm96 its not the os its the computer

  • @MetalStorm96 my old windows 98 pc boots in 30 seconds, dammit :(

  • @MetalStorm96 Well, not my Windows, it has been installed on SSD, and the boot up time is about 25 seconds, and withouth the Windows splash screen, 15-20 seconds.

  • This is faster than my 2 year old laptop... FML.

  • Faster tan Windows 7 ;-)

  • My dad once had a 12 grand Macintosh, back in the late 80's, when their innovation wasn't an inconvenience (Dammit 1-button mouse, Y U NO WORK FOR VIDEO GAMES?!) It had 4 Gigabytes of RAM. The laptop I'm typing this only has 2 gigabytes!

  • And when it explodes?

  • I saw Kip Kay make an iPad dock out of one of these. It was awesome.

  • There's an app for this ya know.... :) Check out my channel... i figured the ipod is blazes faster than this xD

  • If we have professional programmers from the 80' we don't need hardware manufacturers. Software and Hardware manufacturers makes a deal for Ultimate Profit!

  • (GREEN) LIKE -- THUMBS UP!

  • love to have one

  • how do you insert anoter floppy, can you take the booting one out??

  • think differently!

  • WHAT IS THAT STRANGE DEVICE HES POOTING INTO THAT BOX

  • Great commerical for a apple product!

  • @xiTzST0RMx Yeah! but more than twenty years to late now.... lol!

  • can i play doom on it?

  • who wants to play black ops when you can listen to the noises this thing makes?

  • But can it run Crysis?

  • Buy SSD =) TT lol

  • this is more stable than windows vista lol

  • i need this for my mac-quarium..

  • What can you even do on it?

  • Someone needs to show this to Redmond (Microsoft)!!!! RSRSRS.

  • i wonder if you could upgrade this to use modern technology so it could run steam :P

  • no internet and safari

  • Aw wow i remember having one of these when i was like 10.

  • oregon trail, number munchers, and words munchers baby!!

  • wow that's fast!

  • thanks for uploading this

  • i used to think these were nice looking machines, very tidy and slick, i loved the chunky keyboard

  • lol try playing crysis 2

  • Great video! Although I think the old OS and hardware from the 80's is great, Macintosh envisioned a much grander machine. Too bad they had to go with Intel...I always thought Apple was great for having a processor of their own. Yes, I realize third party companies (i.e. Motorola, IBM, etc.) were behind the processors; but they were unique and exclusive to Apple. I still don't understand the need for Intel, but then again, I'm not Apple.

  • faster than my pc:D

  • Fantastic! Nothing to think about really. Of course the latest and the greatest things of the 2000s are overkill. Computers were were developed in the '80s (I have a full '80s MIDI rig including MOTU Performer running on Mac). The only problem is, that people seem to be quite lest developed these days... It saddens me.

  • i wonder if they can put the newer apple stuuf on a floppy so a macintosh can be EVEN BETTER

  • At those times whole software system fitted just to one floppy, booted faster than todays software systems like Windows what takes gigabytes space for nothing important.... The OS at those times were just few kilobytes by size while today they are about one megabyte (mostly drivers) while speed has not improvement at all. But even while OS is just very small part of the software system, the applications and libraries takes too much space and time to load and run!

  • I see your point here but the simple fact is that today's computers have far greater functionality than these. Think about it, Portal 2 vs Pong

  • can i install windows vista on it?

  • You can get operating systems that don't take very long to boot up, they're not nearly as functional as operating systems that take a little bit longer. Newer OSes have to account for a lot of different hardware configurations in the computer which the designers of the Macintosh didn't have to contend with. New OSes also have to consider user expectations for features which the developers of the Macintosh weren't thought of or capable at the time. So yeah, I thought about it.

    Still nice demo.

  • Floppy, huh? Screw SSD drives, then, I'll get a floppy one instead!

  • Cool! the mob can play sound! no need for speakers!

  • LOL More RAM than floppy disc mem!

  • And two years later you could do the same thing, only with a fully multitasking OS.

  • WOW WTF AN 1986 MAC COMPUTER VS 2011 COMPUTER WITH WINDOWS!!!!! INSTEAD OF THE YEAR , THE MAC WILL WIN, I'D PAY FOR SEE A VS BETWEEN THOSE

  • OMG THUMBS UP IF U LOVE PONYS AND EWOKS

<3 PONYS AND EWOKS 4 EVER

  • Yeah, but show it in action. mouseclick...wait....something happens.

mouseclick....wait...something happens. Not much for actual productivity, but enough people were enchanted by them to build an industry. I remember being

disappointed by what I anticipated it should do versus what it actually did. Didn't get one till 2001.

  • This thing BEATS my pc desktop!! and it's only a year old and takes up to a min to start up! sad..

  • omg its faster then vista!!!

  • Ok you got it booted up and under 30 seconds, now make it do something usefull

    Oh wait

  • Do keep in mind that there's a crapload more to load these days.

  • LOL your loading only 800kb data for that computer, today you load a Gigabytes data. try to boot your 800kb to todays computer and it will load like 1 sec or even milliseconds.

  • lol what can u even do on a computer like??? this like no internets or nythingz lol

  • DOES THIS RUN MINECRAFT?

  • I got a macintosh classic (1990) that can run Crysis 2 lol

  • compurer from 1986 Operating system takes less than 800kbs of space Boots in 25sec 1MB ram 8MhZ CPU 800KB Floppy disk Capacity of 1/2 .Mp3 Computer from 2011 Operating system takes 500-1gb of space Boots at 40-60sec 3-4GhZ Cpu 4-6GB Ram 21GB Blueray DVD DVD Drive 1TB HDD with Capacity of over 1milion .Mp3 Old Vs. New...Who wins?
  • I bet Steve Jobs has one of these still. Lol. Why wouldn't he? I'd have fun on this for hours.

  • I see and love it

  • 0:14 - 0:22 sounds cool

  • 0:14 - 0:22 sounds like something from my old PS2

  • 0:14 - 0:22 sounds like something from my PS2...

  • Can it play crysis?

  • If there were real professionals back then, why couldn't MacOS multitask?

  • What will you do, if you'll lose floppy disc?

  • Yeah use linux then if ur not happy with windows, there is still skill programmer out there lol. And with linux you can boot very fast, its no really about the OS its more about what you have on your computer, my was booting on xp with 2gb ram an old processeur at 2.4gh i think and i was boot in about 10 second no lie, then i started to install program and game and thing that boot on startup and there you go now my comp boot in more then 30 sec like about 1 minute, and even if i putted more ram

  • 1:20 really made me think...

  • i always think of old computers as high tech. they have steam punk feel to them. I'm not sure why.

  • mine loads for 8 to 12 secs

  • where can i get this ? :)

  • I can't even play Mario on this! :O can I?

  • Music to my ears, sometimes i miss this old cringing sound in my modern computer.

  • Take an actual Mac or Pc, whatever. Wait 25 years. Do you realy think it will still work?

    Planned obsolescence -_- .

  • Now theres no difference between MAC and PC...

Now youre paying only for MACOs not for built hardware...

  • I don't think you need 80 ties to be a programmer. If anything, that would just make it harder to breathe.

  • 1 MB RAM! YEAAAH! Time to play some high-end gaaaames!

  • Sweet!

  • Darn it my computer is slower

  • i bet there will be 20gb ram in the future....

  • 25 seconds to load 800kb of data........woopee.

  • But can u play Duke Nuke'm 3d High resolution pack on a mac?

  • I think programmers from the 80s hands down! No need for all this Visual Basic drag-and-drop programming with dll's and ocx rubbish in every possible place of the system. As can be seen from this video, you don't need all the bloatware to have a fully functional computer.

I've just been given a Commodore Vic 20...cassette tapes baby!!!

  • @rfitzgerald2004 agree Bro!

  • Today's programmers aren't professionals with skills?

  • @Sanny987 many aren't.... don't you see all the bugs of modern software, created by drag and drop authoring systems?!?!!

  • Where did you unearth this fossil?

  • @Rhosnesni there where most of that is still to get... online auctions

  • Where did you find this dinosaur :p

  • @Xtralicu You can find them on Ebay.

  • Ohhhhhhhvjjvberjrbuvruribv-*melts in nostalgia*

  • yeah... but let us see it play an MP3.... Oh, wait - the only 80's computer that can do that is an Amiga...

  • where's the mouse?

  • dam its so old, its gas powered

  • @dablenuno Good one!! :)

  • where's the mouse, the eat it the cat???????

  • install windows on it

  • try to install windows 7 on it

  • better than iron man's by far

  • boots up faster than my iphone

  • Now let's see it playing Crysis 2....*BOOM*

  • Now boot Atari TOS from ROM. 192K, similar machine, 3 seconds.

  • Where's the mouse?

  • i updated Ram to 6GB.Now i play crysis warhead

  • was using one of these today XD

  • can it run crysis?

  • can it play games

  • And Mac still sucks!

  • i like the floppy drive sounds=)

  • Enough to play runescape

  • soo im a gamer. Would you recomend this if i wanna play games with maxinun graphics?

    :P
