thank you adam. no one moshed to them when they came to NZ was amazing everyone was mesmerized and just watching and listening to tool just an amazing experience maynard voice was perfect their playing was amaculate was an awesome set list to
Every time I start listening to another band I think to myself hmmmmm... I could be listening to Tool right now and sure enough I just put Tool in the CD player. Everything else just seems to pale in comparison.
Man, I love Tool's music and grew up with them, I respect each of them in part. The guys are awesome. I freakin' relate to their music, so brilliant ( Aenima,Lateralus,10k Days) and yet so musical like Undertow/Opiate.
One thing pisses me and I know Tool doesen't like it either, each fan is a fucking philosopher.
They lose the integrity as a band and are treated more like a book :(
@NearbyHermit I suppose the people that are able to grasp what they're all trying to convey would be a good thing....I mean from the bands prospective. Otherwise, what would be the purpose? Most people I've talked to hasn't even heard of them. I figure if they wanted to hear them, they would know about TOOL. But it takes more than just hearing a couple riffs or a sweet bass line in the ambiance to understand whats going on in the song. Most of friends don't like them because its too mellow
@H8CHylde Hehe, I guess it's up to each fan to delve into the music of their band.
I enjoy, the style, darkness, ambiance and spirit of the music, I don't like deciphering every meaning, because I might end up in a dead-end or I won't like what I'll find,so I just stick to my conceptions and thoughts.
Haha, Tool had a #1 platinum hit when I was in high school, way back in 1992 or 1993. Sober. On the radio you'd have Guns n' Roses (my enemy forever), Madonna, Marky Mark, Def Leppard, Pearl Jam's unbearable horseshit, Nirvana's fake-ass sentimentality, L.L.Cool J, and Tool, all in a row. Goddamn I am old.
They are badass, but they are not new or underground. They've been on a major label for like 20 years. They do keep it pretty real I have to say.
lol all these paraphrasing..sentences. All I think is that out of all 4 of them, Danny is the most down to earth. The others prefer to get caught up in the motion and be aware of literally everything happening to them.

I agree. He is making APC and Pusicifer album before TOOL this year. I'm not sure about Puscifer but imn certain of APC. Don't get me wrong they are both kickass bands but I'd rather see more TOOl stuff than APC or Puscifer.
I love every album, but my favorites in particular are Aenema, Lateralus, and 10,000 Days. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy listening to Undertow and Opiate, but I liked listening to more musicallity and a bit less anger. I got more used to the earlier albums by writing a gigantic story based on Tool songs, inspired from Faaip De Oiad/Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned trilogy. It consists of almost every Tool song. Anyways, I still got a bit more inspiration from the 3 newest albums.
i don't know what it's like in australia (is this from australia...i think it is) but in the states tool is one of the most played bands on the radio. probably the only relevant band that gets played actually. aside from legends like nirvana.
Can't think of one, but I do hate that it takes so long for them to write another album. I'm going to be probably 25 or 26 before I hear from them again. (21 now)
Look, I know being critical of them on this channel was like stirring up a bees nest, but I grew up on Opiate and Undertow. I was hoping to hear some feedback on those of us who have. Ever since Paul left, the albums just seem to kinda drag on. They're live shows are awe-inspiring, though. I truly respect them and they're music, but will not waste another 20 dollars on an album that I feel is just...Meh. Maybe they have just gotten old? You can't be pissed off forever.
Well you're just being closed minded, are you sure you're a Tool fan? I love Opiate and Undertow but I think ever since Justin joined the band they've gotten better. You have your opinion but to say anything after Undertow just drags on? Wow!
Whats funny is that I had a conversation with someone a few weeks ago, and I stated my opinion of how I feel about them, and instead of having a intelligent, varied argument, I not only get thumbs down from people, but the host deleted my earlier remarks. The first song they mention on this video, (Hush) is EXACTLY what Tool stood for.
I've been listening to Tool since the good 'ole Opiate days, and find everything after Undertow to be, well, boring really. Maybe i'm just not as stoned or as "enlightened" as them, but it just does not get me pumped like their earlier stuff. I want my rock music to get me going, and find it rather arrogant when millionaire's who have been messed up on the hardest drugs on earth try to teach me life lessons. I have huge respect for them but am dissapointed that they evolved into this.
Musicianship? After waiting years for an album, I basically spent 20 dollars to listen to them dick around on their instruments for an hour. If you had grown up with Opiate and Undertow as your version of them, you'd see why I feel that way. I mean, really, was 10000 days worth a 4 year wait? Also, during an interview with Metal Edge, Adam stated that that album would be alot heavier, due to an influence of them touring Northern Europe and playing with alot of the death metal bands.
They grow with each album....sure each one is different, but that doesn't make it worse than any other album of their's...10,000 days was great just like the rest of their albums..still its different.
I agree that 10,000 days isn't a bad album, and that no band (Except Pantera, RIP Dime) really can stick to the exact same formula and be succesful artisticaly and commercialy, however, the jump in in style is huge compared to their earlier work. They just seemed to have a funkier, heavier sound. It probably has more to do with Paul leaving than anything. Anyways, thanks for the actual intelligent reply, I don't see to many of those.
Yeah, paul leaving probably did have something to do with it...But without justin, we wouldn't have 46 and 2, schism, the pot, the grudge...those are good songs but i definitely agree....And you are very welcome for the intelligent reply.
I'm only 15 and have been listening to Tool for a little over 3 years. I have every album from Opiate to 10,000 Days. I can see where you're coming from. But I don't think that the new albums suck. They're just not as bombastic as Opiate and Undertow.
You will never know, if they are really honest....;) think about mjk words, not just listen...;)

Wow!

maynard nailed it...the majority of the crowd are artists...if i wasn't as in to art as i am...might not be such a huge tool fan..

10,000 days is what it is, you know, what do you feel.

A Tool fan censoring Tool, i've seen it all.

Whats funny is that I had a conversation with someone a few weeks ago, and I stated my opinion of how I feel about them, and instead of having a intelligent, varied argument, I not only get thumbs down from people, but the host deleted my earlier remarks. The first song they mention on this video, (Hush) is EXACTLY what Tool stood for.

and Stinkfist is what?...

So you care very little about musicianship?
Nannada1212 3 years ago

Anyways, thanks for the actual intelligent reply, I don't see to many of those.
whoandtheha 3 years ago
Yeah, paul leaving probably did have something to do with it...But without justin, we wouldn't have 46 and 2, schism, the pot, the grudge...those are good songs but i definitely agree....And you are very welcome for the intelligent reply.

I'm only 15 and have been listening to Tool for a little over 3 years. I have every album from Opiate to 10,000 Days. I can see where you're coming from. But I don't think that the new albums suck. They're just not as bombastic as Opiate and Undertow.
