  • am i the only one that watched this and went "what has happened to fashion?"

  • What's happening at 5:47? And what did it says?

  • Well done video. I found the defocus was much more subtle than I had expected too. I thought I was doing something wrong. Nice to see it wasn't just me :-)

  • Ok.. I've just noticed at 0:36 there is a shop called Wanko ?

  • 0:34 Wanko....great shop names in hong pong!..haha!

  • 5:08 "de- fuck us control" lol!

  • Same ring?: Im not sure.

Oposit hands: Im quite sure of that.

    So...

  • The real reason to get this lens is that it has 9 aperture blades vs. Nikon's typical 7 blade design. More blades = rounder aperture circle = smoother bokeh.

  • Most users of this lens don't use DC features anyway they are the most beatiful lenses I ever own

  • What's the purpose of the defocus control?

  • Seriously what is an allamby?

  • @olracq you should ask: who....

its the woman beside of kai

  • is there any CANON lense that has a function exactly like this??? pls reply

  • @evlasss "Nikon has patented it"

  • @evlasss 135 F2.8 Soft Focus Im pretty sure is the same thing

  • is there any CANON lense that has a function exactly like this??? pls reply

  • @5:25 I like how the guy has a Nikon strap on a Canon body. hahaha.

  • he shouldve shot the same picture with different DC settings. That way the difference is more noticable

  • i still don't understand what DC is...what a video.

  • OMG! when i was in hongkong, i wanted to bump into you guys shooting a vid or something. WE WENT TO THAT EXACT SAME PLACE WHERE YOU ARE NOW! I COULD'VE TOTALLY MET YOU GUYS! D:

  • OMG! when i was in hongkong, i wanted to bump into you guys shooting a vid or something. WE WENT TO THAT EXACT SAME PLACE WHERE YOU ARE NOW!

  • I wonder if DC has more of an effect at smaller apertures (darned iphone)

  • I wonder if the dc control has more of an effect at s

  • "I wonder if her collars match her cuffs." ahahhahahahaha 6:29

  • "Smoother that Barbie's backside"

  • My 70-210mm from '82 has a manual aperture ring...nothing new

  • I get well nervous when I see people with no straps on their cameras!! :o

  • fashion in MK? are u sure?

  • what is the difference "between defocusing" and depth of field?

  • I have a quick question: Should I buy a MBP with antiglare or glossy screen? Thanks in advance!

  • Canon has a 135mm f/2.8 lens with "soft focus" which does something similar.

  • Plus points for mentioning cosplay.

I'm not really sure I understand the point of the defocus ring. Sounds pretty useless.

  • BokehGuru! I'm laughing soooo much!

  • 2:43 "oh my god" lol

  • I think you should say BOKEH! at least once in every video.

  • That is a terrible lens, all the pictures are soft and not sharp...

  • That is a terrible lens, all the picture are soft and not sharp...

  • 716 people are boke gurus!

  • I didn't want the video to end!... Because there were alot of hot guys in the background!!! XD lol

  • i've had the lens for about 6 months - the DC is cool at times, but what i really like is the sharpness. BTW, i'm really envious of the color, lights and street fashion that you found in Mongkok!

  • LENS IS HORRIBLE.

  • please make another compition!

  • LOL at Kai knowing what cosplay is.

The thing people don't get about this lens is that DC is sort of a secondary feature. It's mostly a normal 105 or 135 f/2 lens, which happens to have the DC feature available. There is no fast non-DC 105 or 135 in the Nikon lineup, unlike with, for example, Sony, where there's both a normal Zeiss 135 1.8 and the Sony 135 STF f/2.8 / t/4.5.

  • good video - bad lens!

  • Review the Minolta 135mm f/2.8 [T4.5] STF Perhaps?

  • I'll stick with the 2.8 Macro then.

  • I want to be in a video!!!!! In HK from Austin, TX!!!

  • ALAMBY AND KAI IS ENGAGED LOOK AT THE RING @7:25

  • @JSchan123 that is not their ring finger.

  • @JSchan123 Yeah... Except both engagement and wedding rings are worn on the ring finger, on the left hand.

  • @JSchan123 Uhh... wrong finger.

  • @JSchan123 her ring is on her middle finger though, and his is on his right hand

  • @4:18 girls says: I don't wanna be seen with you nerd

  • pleasee.. i want to see the picture that Kai says that Lok looks funny....

  • Not sure you know how to use this lens correctly

  • 5:09 hahahaha "DeFackous control"

  • Pfft Canon 5DMK2 has this built into the camera who needs Nikooorn

  • Hey is it just me or is kai and allamby wearing the same ring 7:30 ?

  • @74lolman wrong finger.

  • @74lolman I'm not sure but I think Lok wears that ring too earlier in the vid

  • @74lolman I think the ring kai wearing is quite bigger and has different shape than her, though I know he is a man

  • schwarzenegger reference, hahaa

  • "De-fockus controol" :D

  • lok seems awkward in a funny way

  • What Dslr, are you using in taking Ur Videos?

  • Loc's face at 5:27 hahaha so epicly amazing haha

  • Can you guys please review the Canon 200mm f/2.8 prime?

  • Can you guys please review the Canon 200mm f/2.8?

  • I'm glad the first video I saw was a Bokeh battle, or I would have totally been lost for some of this video! :D

  • A battle of the bokeh next (this one vs. Canon's 135mm 2.8 soft focus)? Please?

  • very good:-}

  • THESE ARE FROM THE FILM DAYS YOU IDIOTS. Back when, shock, horror, photoshop didn't exist...

  • Lol, pretty nice video. But in the end, what is the practical use of this lens? And I want to see the last photo mentioned ^^

  • lol the cameraman has a Nikon shoulder strap with a Canon camera :D

  • From 5:11 to 5:16, you can see the yellow psp and iphone sign that's also present in the canon 600d review video! I think i watch too much digitalrev :)

  • 5:12 The PSP and iPhone sign in the background. hah.

  • Thanks for inviting the ymca in your video.

  • Nice lense ,but i will stick with what i have {0_o}

  • nice, I was thinking of getting this lens, now I'm not.

  • Lol at wanko

  • this is a macro/portrait lens, not a landscape. you want everything in focus with landscape, so you done need defocus control.

they should have done 135mm dc f/2. 105 is just a baby brother.

  • Would have loved to see it tested for macro/landscape instead, i really doubt street/fashion is what this one's intended for at all.

  • Good review ... Looks like you guys need a second runner, scouring Mong Kok to find suitable canididates.

  • girl "Fashion guru" at 3:07 is cute :)

  • people in hong kong are so much friendlier than in britain haha!

  • Lok at 5:27 is pure gold. I think he writes Kai's jokes.

  • Hong Kong looks awesome!

  • i miss hk!!!

  • I THINK F/4 IS SUITABLE FOR TWO GUYS

  • 5:08 Kai said DE Fuckus

  • Good mix of information and humor. Thanks!

  • anybody, for a step up from kit lens 18-55mm (i have a d3100, so it's gotta be AF-S), which one is better for everyday use/ amateur food photography ; Nikon 18-70mm f3.5-4.5G, or Nikon Nikkor 35mm f1.8G? If you can suggest a better lens under 400 bucks, please suggest so.

  • @takoyakisupreme

35mm 1.8, or wait a bit for 50 1.8 which is a fx lens. 18-70 the same as 18-55. its just one or two steps that you to make with your feet if 55 is too short. dont be lazy. 35 1.8 will allow you 4 times lower iso at the same shutter speed, and that is important.

  • haha nikon strap on loks canon

  • Ken Rockwell says DC should really be called bokeh optimization.

  • "Pay-tent"? That's got to be a Britishism?

  • Your supposed to only move the ring to the aperture your shooting at, so its no supruse that it looks awful set at front 5.6 when the lens is at f2. Its made so you can still can get that creamy bokeh look when shooting at small apertures. Ive got the 135mm f2 dc and its the creamiest lens ever at f8

  • 5:23 I see you guys are using the 5D MarkII for these videos now. The white pixel near the middle of your video seems to be gone!

  • @PianoScience it's always been the 5D mk2

  • Is the shoulder bag you always have a camera bag? Obviously it doesn't look like one, but that's what I'm looking for, a camera bag that doesn't look like a camera bag. PLease get back to me, thanks you.

  • I wish Youtube had a DC ring so I could blur all incorrectness and missed points in this video.

  • This lens hasn't heard of post-processing

  • I dont need that. I have something that's called: Photoshop CS5 :)

  • @IMediaTutorialI

Yeah, try photoshopping the highlight bokeh and see if you can get a similar result.

  • @IMediaTutorialI Wow, welcome to the life of being a horrible photographer. I don't mean to be biased, but anyone who says "Ill just edit that later" and thinks they're a photographer, should sell their camera.

Get the shot right, when you take the shot. Photoshop should only be for what you could not make the camera do.

    IMO.

I'm sure I'll get flamed, but that's my opinion, take or leave it.

  • @DRCsyntax this was just a joke. i am not a fan of too much editing. I prefer to take good pictures without editing them after a shoot :)

  • @IMediaTutorialI Aaah, sorry, A lot of people around here think their cameras are gatling guns and that one out of 1000 shots being good, makes them a photographer. I HATE it. I post on deviantart, just to keep my photo's online for my family; and I always see the most edited, destroyed pictures being "popular". Just ercks me.

  • @DRCsyntax DeviantArt is my favourite photo community. I store every good picture (which i have taken with my Nikon D7000) there

  • @DRCsyntax Agree editing photos is crap.

  • @IMediaTutorialI Photoshop your hundred or thousand image?

  • @hutdockz theres something called "Actions" in PS. pretty helpfull

  • @IMediaTutorialI You so funny, every images not exactly the same. :)

  • @hutdockz i know. i simply have to select the background and apply the effect. boom :) But hey: See my comments above and you'll notice that this was just a joke :)

  • @IMediaTutorialI heck yeah.. LOL that's what i was gonna say! Levels, Curves, Hue/ Saturation, Blur tool > Expensive camera

  • this lens would work better for video where focusing tricks are intentional and play a larger role

  • Pff camera man Nikon strap Canon lens ! :P

  • @MrShoelayce maybe the nikon straps are more comfortable :P

  • @NHShaynne True ^^

  • 2:41 omg what's goin on there and I LOL

  • You should have rotated the ring in video mode.

  • Alambi is soooo cute !!!

  • nikon did something out of the box!

  • I like Lambi. She's cute.

  • hei i watch all ur video also hahahahaha.....

  • i have a 135 dc f2 and shoot it at f 2 and set the dfc control to f 5.6 and wala bokeh!!!(at the price of sharpness

  • Anyone else notice the name of that shop at 0:34?

    XD

  • do a free lensing video!

  • please do a Review of the Canon EF 135mm F2 L!

  • Comment removed

  • When kai said "Subscribe" at 4:43, i looked up and it said "Subscribed". Ahh, what a good feeling that was(:

  • I bought the 135 version after comparing it head-to-head to the 105 at the shop. I found the 105 was not nearly as sharp as the 135 and was told it was designed that way. The instructions say optimum bokeh comes from matching the f-stop used to the DC number. If this number exceeds to f-stop, the photo will not be sharp anywhere. I have found my 85mm 1.4 to be much easier to use as it gives great bokeh and doesn't give me more to consider when shooting.

  • ..jesus christ people... i'm pretty sure TheAngryMo was throwing up a joke... hence the :D

  • @TheAngryMo 5:30 Lok also has a silver ring...

  • @TheAngryMo Are you blind? Kai is wearing a ring on the middle ringer of his right hand. That doesn't mean anything.

  • @TheAngryMo but Lok has that ring as well.... on the same finger as Kai. =O

  • Try reviewing the Sony 135mm f/2.8 [T4.5] STF for more bokeh-enhancing trickery.

  • @pireze I also thought this after watching this video…
