Don't do this!!! Just take out the HD, turn it upside down, blast a hair dryer into the vents at the back for 20mins(hot) and then cool it back down(cold).

@rakenrolstar1 Over time, the machine naturally heats up more and more. After a few years (depending on the Model you have), the fan starts working harder because it wants to keep up with all the heat, but can't. When the console reaches its max temperature, the "solder" in the Motherboard detaches, thus causing YLoD. It has nothing to do with Wi-Fi connect-ability. :)

I do recommend cleaning dust from it every 1 or 2 years (depending how much you play it), though.

It's not mandatory, but I recommend it so you don't have to spend $250 on a new one, 6 months before you would have if you cleaned it. :P

You really shouldn't flip it after hitting it with the heat gun. The solder can liquify and when you flip it, it can drip across the motherboard causing irreversible damage. If you got lucky and the solder didn't run... A better way next time is to set the board up on something with the flat packs pointed up and heat that side alone until the board is very warm, not really hot.

oh ya, buy some canned air once in a while and blow the dust out of it, put something in the fan blade to stop it from spinning while blowing out the dust, small screwdriver/terminator. REASON? for those of you who have watched this video and attempt this and are succesful...GREAT. Now, try to understand why you got the YLOD in the first place, HEAT. The PS3's main board in the models this guy describes are 1st gen(CECHK01's....etc), buckles from poor heat dissipation in the case. Buy a fuckin laptop cooling fan and put in under the unit. Keep in well ventilated area. I've had my CECHK01 1st gen since 2007, still running with the same laptop fan under it. Electrician for 20yrs now.

So i returned the game and got my money back no big deal i thought until i bought MW3. And i'm having the same issue with this game.
