I am still fascinated by the fact that we had a 3.2 quake between Rennes and Vannes in Brittany, France earlier this year. It was shallow, 2 km. This is UNHEARD OF. My French family are right there but now is not the time for me to ask them about this -- they are having problems just now. It's unprecedented! Very good vids and channel, thank you.

A comment regarding Poland - on 7th Apr there was a 4.2 in south west area.

In particular, the previous 4.0 and recent 4.2 took place in area of a major copper mine (once I was on business to this copper mine - but not underground; they said there were quakes from time to time - clearly a week point; certain parts of the mine are considered quite dangerous).

interesting remark about parts of japan sinking- romours are flying (i'm an aussie) about large areas of indonesia sinking. I'm interested to see if someone can confirm this with something sturdier than here-say

@cavygurur I'm a West Aussie also interested in this, I have looked at youtubes vids showing that Indonesia are sinking but I too don't believe everything I hear, I think the biggest threat to us in Aus are their rather volitile volcanoes. My plan is to head inland when bigger events kick in.

In your video with Ginny and Mike you suggest a tsunami would hit Florida. Just looking at the map, it seems more realistic that a tsunami would clip Virginia and hit New York. While it wouldn't necessarily be 30 meters, a 10 meter tsunami could still ruin your day.

we live on 2.5 acres and only have tank water, no town water. i also have bottled water stored and plan on storing even more. no matter how much you manage to store it may not be enough but we can only do our best with the resources we each have available to us. better to be prepared than panicked

Dutch i just looked at USGS and it shows earthquakes 6.0 and above every OTHER day, and some of those 6.0 are japan (aftershocks) .

So i would say every other day a large earthquake hits. Look at USGS, click on M5+, and every other day, there's a red mag, which is 6 and above, so i'm not calling you a liar, but your claim, as far as that site is concerned, is incorrect, and those INCLUDE japans aftershocks which shouldn't even count to be honest.

Yes but they are earthquakes brought on by a previous earthquake, which otherwise, would probably not occur on its own from movement. The EQs in Indonesia and the one in Mexico were sudden and unpredictable. The plates along those regions are moving from seismic changes, which helps us learn more about what is going on. The ones in Japan are dismissible because we are expecting them to continue for possibly years.

@MrSirHipster - actually, many of us have been following the quakes for some time. The quakes in Indonesia and Mexico were not sudden. Many small quakes led up to them. The activity seems to ebb and flow. Each new flow brings a larger final quake in that region. There are so many quakes happening now that it is difficult to tell what are pre-shocks and what are after-shocks. They are continual. This is a fascinating time from a scientific/geological perspective. Wow, that is all I can say. :)

Me to, im not afraid of these EQ's, but they make you curious and question which information sources a truly thorough. But 2011 is starting to look like 2007 in terms of sever earthquakes, which is somewhat worrying.
