I'm confused, why did they do that, this video only covers what, and not why?
Without the why, forming an opinion about it is arrogant, since you first must understand motives, before accusations are justified. Unless the accusations are about motives : /
Allowing children to learn by observation and experience not just sitting in a room and being told what's real is a good remedy to mother culture's voice.
Christian-related words like "bishop," "chapel," "disciple," "minister," "sin," and "devil," have been replaced by words like "blog," "biodegradable," "MP3 player," "democratic," and "celebrity," in the 2007 edition of the popular children's dictionary in the United Kingdom.
i*am certain if anyone desired to fund the added printing of their choice of words, that Oxford Junior would be happy to include them, i*am also very certain Mother*Nature is happy to just have less paper being used.
yes*indeed, that is WHY i*point out that the fundamental control of religion is one of those loses, and the book is eco/socially conscious by limiting is size & pointing children toward greater access to truth and information, after all they will not find your opinion in any mainstream book or dictionary, the "key issue" is seeing both the positive & negative aspects to something and then building support for the positive in alternative ways to embrace the change for the good of all humanity.
i see no positive aspects to the continued growth of industrial technology, nor to the loss of words such as 'disciple' or 'devil'
it's clear people have greater access to information--but to truth? well, if access to truth is found in stillness and quiet, then clearly they have *less* access to it
so people won't have the vocabulary to talk about nature or about spiritual experience, just about machines?
i will not embrace this change, as it is not 'for the good of all humanity'
The issue for some is what's being lost, the issue for*me is what's being gained, for every lose there is a positive gain, if our collective focus is upon that gain... it is then made greater than the lose.
It is in the nature of silence that one will find their truth, and in the nature of humanity that they are given the courage, grace, beauty and strength to share that truth.
While the nature of all, offers unlimited venue from which to embrace he'r...
i'm not sure i understand your meaning, peaceprofit
there is nothing positive about the natural being usurped by the technological--this story is yet another example of how experience is becoming increasingly hollow, fragmented, and mediated
if i were taken from my home and imprisonsed, i wouldn't focus on the "positive" gain, i would focus on the loss of my freedom, and do everything i could to regain it
There is always positive in everything, seeing it is not always the choice everyone makes, especially when looking at the short term view overlaid with negative thoughts and language.
From reading your comments over time, you seem to focus mostly upon not having the freedom you desire, so perhaps you can't be imprisoned from them, or have imprisoned your*self already.....
Either way the perspective on experience you share with many, is your choice to focus and limit that experience.
also, knowing what i know about publishing houses, i'm certain the reduction in size was for financial reasons, not ecological ones, but that being 'ecologically conscious' is a good way to spin the changes for pr
yes*indeed, which is WHY i*said i*am certain they would be happy to accept funding for additional printing, and perhaps WHY you choose to ignore my meaning and place your own opinion of a PR aspect to my/their intent.
Ones vision extends as far as one's attitude allows...
and i also don't understand what you're getting at here, either, pp. we seem to be talking from two different planets.
first, oxford publishing is a corporation, not a charity.
second, i *think* i got your meaning--you think we should all embrace technological 'progress.' so i didn't ignore it, although i may have misunderstood it.
however, i refuse to embrace technological 'progress', as i see where it comes from, & where it's taking us, & i say we don't need it.
i*find it very strange that you deny acceptance of technological progress, while using that progress in nearly every aspect of your life especially to misunderstand my point of view & continually reading words into my comments such as "charity" & "progress" - which shift the meaning of the points i*am attempting to make, i*am obviously (& knowingly so) not very good at offering a coherent clarity to many people whom i*know should understand MY*BAD
as i said, i can see the roots of industrial technology (violence and exploitation) as well as its fruits (increasing immiseration on multiple levels), and that is why i reject it wholeheartedly.
i have no intention of shifting the meaning of the points you are trying to make, only trying to understand them and respond.
as for my use of technology, i'm just rattling my cup on the bars of my cage....
cutting back the bush is worth the effort, as the roots will support an entirely different plant, while the seed is simply a genetic copy that will require more time, energy and effort to raise than man*kind has left for its completion....
for the destruction or salvation of this planet hangs on a very short window of opportunity at this late juncture.
not sure i follow your entire metaphor, but if you want to cut back the bush, have at it. because industrial civiliization is based on violence and domination at the very root, however, i say we need to abandon it altogether.
it's harmful, it doesn't work, and it can't be 'fixed.' if it could be fixed, why then all the well-meaning people throughout history would have done so by now.
and yes we are at a very critical point--that is the only reason why i even bother with youtube
i*agree it can't be "fixed" yet it can*be changed without the need to destroy or abandon the true roots, just the root cause of its nurture & growth, FEAR. for the true roots of industrial civilization are common*unity & the desire to profit toward equality
That we*have allowed fear to distort & control its development and growth, is a responsibility that can*be owned, changed & improved to benefit the planet
Cut it back return to the root of its culture origins, the profit of the common good
and.... the "well-meaning people throughout history" HAVE BEEN DOING SO, just as WE are N.O.W. the difference today, the planet is about to kick our ass & so the lack of will & intelligent thinking & action is rapidly losing favor, FEAR is losing its cold, heartless grip... Humanity will prevail if this continues to be the case, learning to cooperate with each, the other & the planet.
and... yes*if - "we need to abandon it altogether" - i*will be right there with those who take up the process, as that is where my skills and knowledge rest, for nature offers he'r very best and demands only the same in return, something i*have been living all*ways...
I like that they deleted "blackberry" in exchange for "electronic blackberry." I'm much more likely to use a tree for email anyhow, I'm ok with the change.
When the deleted word was "beaver" I thought this video was going in an entirely different direction. Oops.
Twenty-six of us can get together and each memorize one section of the dictionary so that the children will know what we're talking about when nature and dictionaries are gone.
Well, even the dictionaries we have are filled with the opinion of mother culture, so I think we need to teach our children about the real world ourselves.
Read 1984 - this is EXACTLY what they're doing, they are distorting the language to artificially push out concepts such as Truth, Integrity, Freedom and Nature from the collective mind. This shit doesn't happen over night, we are *gradually* molded by this form of mind control. And it works well when you distract the mind with disney, sex, drugs and the rest of what's known as "culture" here in Babylon.
worse, when 'revolution' is used by every other ad campaign or used to describe the minute changes in industrial production, or the new fixtures in a department store- that's when the word can be dead or suffocating under a pile of emptiness.
i read an article on this and the people running the book take out words with declning currency. so a word used by a generation or two ago is not usually included in new editions.
i know too many people that 'can't live without blackberries'. i don't want a future where kids scarcely know what real blackberries (god damn, i have to actually write that) are.
it's also interesting that these things are called after blackberry or apple.
on a side note, in a couple weeks ill have the magically subversive pleasure of rummaging through raspberries and blackberries near this office park where the dilberts work.
it is interesting that the world has become an object for us to manipulate and lost it's status as a subject, a living breathing interactive force to engage. i've worked as volunteer for years with young people and i've always been surprised when the 'belief' that words themselves contain meaning is expressed.the meanings reside within us, and words are merely pointing sticks or representative of what we wish to point to and yet the confusion remains there. the "power" of language is daunting.

i miss him....
