good old eastern oregon good times there nice place for any kinda wheeling from rock to snow if anyone wants to know where to go wheelin and when let me know eastern oregon is where i grew up
Not for sure yet, but think I will be headed in at midnight wed. and be there thru thur. On friday will be in the black mtn. area and then back to jubilee on friday night or saturday morning.
Ive now snowheeled, northern Idaho, Northeastern Washington and Northwestern Washington and I can assure you, year after year the blue mountains have the most awesome, consistent snow for snow wheelin there is anywhere in the state, So now a couple times a year we make the 7 hour trek across the state to get our fix of the real stuff. PS Awesome Video Please look me up and give me call some time.
History: So It was a natural for us all to head out the day after grooming was stopped. I think the jubalee run became so popular because there was room for just about anybody and any kind of rig. Some years the snow was like concrete and anyone could drive in. Blue mountain snow wheeling was light years ahead of the rest of state for snow wheeling because of the frequent Chinook winds which melt the snow down a bit then it freeezs solid enough for wheeling with the smaller tires of yester year
Thanks for letting us in on some of the history. Sounds like its been going for 35 plus years. You are definently right about there being room for everybody. Now that they let ppl go around baldy theres not as much entertainment.
You don't have to sign up, just show up. Some do camp and others just drive all night and day. I don't know the history of the run. I've been attending for about 13 years and I know its been around a lot longer than that. Maybe someone on here can tell us.
I can tell some of this story, I'm Carl Jantz owner of Super Jeep and Jantz Engineering, I was born in Walla walla. In the Early 70's there was a jeep club called the 5 point 4 wheelers. (some of you know five points is on the way up Black snake rd). We used to wheel year round, but as tires got bigger we were able to run farther of course and snomobilers got real mad. So the Forest service limiting acceess to wheeled vehicles from just after elk hunting season to march 31st.
