Why'd someone hate a girl that he "claimed" to love? love and hatred can't be opposites always - when you are really angry and hateful, it shows you can't get them off your mind and they bring out the most powerful emotions like anger, hatred or even love. I think opposite to love is not hatred or anger, but indifference.

@aatayyab I think the opposite of love is fear. Love and hate both operate when you're near their object. Indifference happens from a safe distance. But fear propels you away from its source, moving you from it to something else. The question becomes whether you are simply running from something (fear) or toward something (love). Otherwise you're standing still or running in place.

@TavernacleRecords Probably the worst indifference that may happen is between two closest people. You can't fall in love with someone that you fear or develop it later or sort of run away claiming thereof. That is a very frail excuse i.e. fear to do that. So, yes, you run away, not from the source or people but from your own self. Embrace yourself, love will embrace you naturally :)
