@356ALX..I admit Philly is dirty and so is Camden, especially if you are coming from a little small town, every city up north has its dirty areas and nice parts, like New York,Philly,D.C,Baltimore,Chicago..etc I have seen all of these cities slums, and even in the south also Atlanta and Miami, and even when I stayed in Charlotte. But I still had a good time there
Thanks for posting, cityskylines! Is that building with the "basket handle" at the top the Duke Energy tower? Make another video flying through the handle. ;o)
That would be cool. Seriously though, nice vids. Maybe you could do one of these at night or at dusk? Fine job, keep 'em coming!
CHARLOTTE HAS BUILDINGS ALL OVER THE CITY NOT JUST DOWNTOWN. UNLIKE THOSE CITIES PEOPLE DROOL OVER WITH A LOT OF BUILDINGS DOWNTOWN AND SLUMS EVERYWHERE ELSE. RIDE THRU DOWNTOWN, SOUTHEND, SOUTHPARK, UNIVERSITY CITY, HUNTERSVILLE, MIDTOWN, PINEVILLE, LAKE NORMAN, LAKE WYLIE, NO DA, BALLENTINE, PLAZA/MIDWOOD, DILWORTH, OR NORTHLAKE. AND YOU WILL SEE WHY CHARLOTTE IS THE 18TH BIGGEST CITY IN THE USA.
I flew to Charlotte two years ago. I am from Philly, so my flight was from Philadelphia to Atlanta, but we stopped in Charlotte. When we were landing the Pilot said if you would look out of your window you will see the beatiful city of Charlotte. I kept looking for the city and couldn't find it. Then the person sitting next to me said it is the section of land with the two tall buildings, I laughed coming from Philly ,Charlotte looks so small, but it seemed very clean and laid back.
@misterjgl Not having a big downtown area doesn't mean that the city is small and not important. Charlotte is the most important Southern city (Bank of America, NASCAR, Duke Energy, and many other big companies are headquartered here; Charlotte is also the second financial American center after New York City, and also Duke Energy is the biggest nuclear power company in the American continent). It is more important than Atlanta. Charlotte is definitely a clean and nice city.
@misterjgl I remember flying into Philly and making the comment to the passenger beside me, "It looks like one big slum....a filthy dump." They replied, "That's not Philadelphia...that Camden, New Jersey. The bigger dump on the other side of the river is Philly."
I moved to Charlotte 5 years, 8 days ago. And i must say, it is a beautiful little city and i wouldnt live anywhere else. The annual bike race and speed street are more important to me than anything other event there. I just only wish it was a bit more alive with people, culture and more skyscrapers. (Im from NY so sorry if i sound picky.) lol.
I love that this video starts out by flying right over FreeMoreWest, my neighborhood! I spend a lot of time seeing the city from this side of town but have never seen it from this side AND in the air! COOL VIDEO!!
Congrats young man...great job. The view most travelers see as they're racing north/south on I-77 doesn't do this handsome skyline justice. Thanks for showing the I-277 viewpoint. Atlanta's skyline is spectacular at night, mainly because the city's tallest highrises are isolated, spread out and surrounded by blocks of midrises ...but Charlotte's are dense and packed, creating that shady canyon (Tryon Street) during the day - so that, if it wasn't so clean, you'd think you were in New York.
I Love it...Born and raised in the Queen City I have been away for a few years but I remember the first time comin back home earlier this year, riding down 85 and couldnt wait to come around the curve to get onto 77 and see the Skyline..I was like a child seeing NYC for the first time cause I didnt know the Duke Energy building would look as it does.....Nice video,Thank u.....
@eddiet2k3 As a resident for 5 years until very recently I concur 100%...I hate those surface parking lots...the city would be much better of without them.
Hey, give him a pat on the back. Really cool vid. I think he did a very good job of panning out and zooming in at the right times. I love how the Charlotte skyline has grown over the last 10-15 years. The addition of the DEC building will further help make it a memorable and more recognizable skyline.
charlotte has small town big city feel to it.

What is the definition of a surface lot? Not sure what you mean. Thanks
mark40511 1 year ago
@mark40511 basically means parking lot or empty lot with nothing on the land.
NinerGreen 1 year ago
ugh, those surface lots in 3rd and 4th wards make my stomach turn at street level, but even more so above the ground. Great video though. :-)

@eddiet2k3 Good for very cheap expansion, give it 15 years and you'll see some skyscrapers covering that area.
