Cant understand how you manage to get so dark colors if you want.. I'm painting with standox water based colors and fooled around with the reducer (water) from 15%-30% and have problems to get dark/thick layers when i airbrush.. for example, black + reducer (water), i've tried from 30% down to 0% and still cant get the thick dark color if i want to. I think my problem lays in the colors + air flow thru my airbrush why my jobs wont develope..
Amazing work man. How long have ya been airbrushing? I just started and doing portrait work like that is what I really want to get into. I'm trying to dial in my airbrush at the moment. It is spiderwebbing/sputtering like crazy, not sure if its me, paint or brush itself. I'm using Creaatex reduced 50/50 with water.
Steve, I've noticed sometimes you prepare the canvas in a light shade that your going to be working with, I presume this is a good place to start, then work the main features in e'g eyes nose mouth, then work the darker areas up. Do you use the same formula for most of your portraits?
Whatever you do, it sure as hell works!! Keep it up and lets have a DVD soon!

@MrMaskita The frightening thing is he's self taught as far as I know! He does things his own way compared to what you might be 'taught' in a classroom I think. But its the end result that counts which is stunning and inspiring. I'm hoping for a tutorial DVD soon!
Awesome work! You make it look so easy, but I know you have many hours behind your work. You inspire me with your skills. Keep up the good work. Do you have any more recent videos of your work?
Amazing work!!! I'm just starting out now and in the "Can't control my trigger so I watch other people paint on youtube phase" lol. How long would you say that piece took you to make? Also do you use waterbased aswell on different paintings or stictly urethanes.
Great work again steve. Do you cap your colours or just lay down solid colour at different intensity. Getting my head around portatraits at the moment and gaining alot of inspiration watching you work.
Wow. She's beautiful. Keep up the good work Steve. Love to see your Art work. You're Amazing! Hopefully in a few years I can draw that good. Fantastic!
In the future I would love a video where there was no music and we could listen to the pressure and air of the brush as you work, that would be a great education.
by far one of my fave artists....from one airbrusher to another...props...

Isn't wise to wear a face mask when you are using Urethanes?

This is a solid base- it does resemble candy but this solid base had some transparency to it- which smoothes out tones.
