  • should i disable IIS. I am using windows server 2003 with a HP proliant (maxed out ofcourse.

  • Yes. IIS and Apache will both need port 80 and if IIS is already running, then Apache won't be able to start. I've seen where people who have already been running IIS have very diffucult times trying to get XAMPP to run.

I did it myself only because I completely disabled IIS right after installing Server 2003 and ran XAMPP because of Server 2003's stability. I now run Linux Ubuntu and it's a far better choice in my opinion.

  • I'm having a hard time deciding. I used to use ubuntu server with webmin as the gui.. i love it,, it just works! lol.. windows server 2003 is a pain in the fucking ass!! IIS has too many problems.. I also tried the cent os with cpanel.. i found it annoying too.. (os kinda sucked). ubuntu and cpanel are also known to be buggy together,, and the reason i am using server 2003 is to see how well it works with mysql/php. its been nothing but headaches!!! (IIS) sucks IMHO.. Ubuntu/Webmin works period

  • Unless you're trying to run a shared-hosting server, I wouldn't use webmin or cPanel at all. I actually use Ubuntu Desktop on my server, so I have a full GUI environment to manage the server with and not be restricted to only using the command prompt to control it.

Take a look at my website under the Linux section and see what you think. I've written several tutorials on Linux Ubuntu because I think it's hand's down the best way to go.

  • U FUCKIN SUCK i just wana know how to install php.exe and the internet server thing im 13 and im trying to learn i just wana learn java and php

  • Well first off you little retard, it's obvious you're 13 and ignorant.

There is no "PHP.EXE" that just runs on your computer. But as I said, you're a retard. You might aught to read how that works first before trying to learn it because it's obvious you have no clue what you're doing or talking about.

So piss off you rude little terd.
