  • @larsforyou I also own a Pearson Commander, lots of those on the bay too :)

  • So who get to tidy the cabin! :-)

  • They know they have to much sail up, that's why it says entertaining but inefficient :P

  • U have to much sails up

  • Reef or trim.. When you heel like that, most of the wind spills over the top of the sail.

  • wow, most beautiful sail in the network

  • Lots of Folkboats on San Francisco bay. I own a Pearson Commander, but love the folkboats.

  • A note on reefing:

Folkboats here in Scandinavia are virtually never reefed for two reasons: its generally not needed and the simple rig and relatively thin mast would probably be stressed in a way it was not designed for. Folkboats will race in winds of +30 kts without reefing - wet but fast :)

  • wow, i would be more afraid of the yacht capsizing lol

  • Crazy!

  • Reef? Pah! Sailed to Bornholm in 20kts or so on the back of a depression - She got us there, and got us there quick. Weather helm was a bit tiring though ;-) Nice vid and nice music. I have a silly dream to sail my Folke (no 29, built 1941.. props, please :-) ) across thje pond then truck (or sail if time permits) her over to SF for a race...one day.

  • And I thought the IJsselmeer and the Channel Islands was ambitious :P

  • Build in 1941...? The Folkboat projekt was created in 1942. Anyway, to have a boat build in 1941 is great.

  • You're totally right - although for some reason folkboat sailors don't tend to reef often. In this case we were close to the marina and enjoying the ride!

  • No one was as surprised as me! But I have the builders plate in front of me, and it states "Svenska Segelsförbundet 1941 Års Folkbåt"

From what I've read, I think they were laid down in 1941 but weren't launched until 1942.

  • Wow nice, i dont know lot about folkboats, but it seems too much heeling, next time try reef for more speed :)

If i am wrong please correct me
