  • @Katiekawaii and Ketanovas - there are several reasons to dechorionate the embryos for our research purposes. One of the main ones is that to make the other movies that you can on this page. The embryos need to be anesthetised and laid out flat.

    Normally the fish larvae hatch from the chorions at around 3 days old. They suffer no ill effects from coming out earlier.

    @idkmybffkarel These are dumont #5 very fine forceps. But with a bit of practice you can dechorionate with 2 mounted needles.

  • it looks like they are just fine forceps used under the microscope. that seems like it would work alright as long as you don't puncture them!

  • hi, i'm working on a research project at school and i'd appreciate it if you could provide me with the tools that you used to dechorionate them. are they some sort of forceps?
