I used to live in 215 East 116 between second and third back in the early eighties and it was complete hell. I even went to P.S. 155 a block from there. The neighborhood was very decent, but asking for maintenance repairs was always trouble for my momma.

As with all travel destinations, it's always wise to stay vigilant and aware of your surroundings, whether you're in London, Sydney, or Times Square. But I can say that I personally live in Harlem and find it to be a safe and vibrant part of Manhattan.

I have had one trip to Harlem last year when I was in Manhattan, it will be somewhere I would love to revisit maybe next year when I make another trip to the US.

@AHintOfReality That is a great question! Harlem is a neighborhood part of northern Manhattan while the Bronx is a separate borough located North of the borough of Manhattan.

@STmemba We think Harlem is a wonderful place to live in. Harlem has so many historical and famous landmarks (i.e. Apollo theater, Columbia University, and Church of All Saints to name a few).
