My bud has a supercharged Nytro. Lag is not an issue on his setup. The turbos on sleds have little to no lag once setup properly. The 2 stroke seems to have a bit more than the 4 stroke machines, maybe due to the physical volume of the engines and the amount of heat produced, however the clutching takes a significant amount of lag out due to engagement rpm. The supercharger does not have this problem. Tuning would be the only lag in the supercharger. Setup to proper A/F and it is cured.
Sorry... I meant stock Nytro. Still, I think a boosted Phaser would rock very well. I agree that $ for $ it may not be the ultimate sled but it is lighter than a nytro, which by the way is very heavy and is a big learning curve to ride. The Phaser is a fair bit lighter which for some may be very advantagous. I also ride a 420 lb 200 hp Polaris custom chassis mountain sled, it is a cool ride and easier to handle but just doesn't have the turbo 4 stroke pull on the hill.
Actually never ridden a boosted phaser. I ride a boosted Nytro and have ridden boosted 2 strokes, supercharged 4 strokes and I hafta say boost is rockin. A stock Nytro may pull more HP than the Phaser but I can say for the backcountry/mountain guy... you are going to be dissapointed with the stock phaser. Go buy the new RMK pro or XP or a kitty cat mountain sled if yo plan to stay stock on pump gas. My Turbo Nytro will run on Premium at 10 lbs of boost which runs between 220 and 240 hp.
don't fricken comment if you don't know what you are talking about, a turbo is spun by the exhaust flow, a supercharger is spun by either a belt or chain from the crank, it does the same thing essentially as a turbo, but more expensive and more horse power and a bit more weight, if this sled was turbo charged, you would hear more of a high whisle, super charged have more of a growl, although they do whisle a bit
Stage I kits are intended for a maximum of 11 PSI . At 10 to 11 PSI we recommend all models use a 50/50 mix of Premium Gas (92+ R+M/2 Octane) and Race Gas (110+ Motor Octane) - or better yet 100% race gas. Kits can be run at 5-7lbs of boost . Each pound of boost is equal to approximately a 10HP increase, you can apply that information to determine HP. Stage 1 Nytro produces 220HP at 11PSI. The Phazer kit ships at 140HP at 11pounds of boost.
That def has a "Cool" factor that can't be replaced by anything else, but I have a hard time believing that this is a good option when buying and rigging a phazer with forced induction would cost the average guy more than $15,000 (cdn dollars), and you can go buy a nytro that makes 130 hp ( only 10 less than a s-charged phazer) for $13,000, and that's full retail.... And does it on 92 octane pump gas. Sure there is a small weight advantage, but even still. No pun intended, I just don't get it.

Uhm... no, it's a supercharger. Driven by the motor, not by exhaust. Google "Mountain Performance Superchargers" and you'll clearly see how it works.
