Can someone tell me what events took place that inspired this song? I think there was some horrible mishap in the news and this is about that-- but I don't know what that was that happened.

The girl, 14, was abducted in 1987 by Gerald Friend as she returned from a punk rock show. Friend raped and tortured her with razors and a blowtorch.
Obviously Courtney Love did not kill Cobain, there would have been some kind of evidence. Plus you cant call yourselves kurt fans if you hate on courtney. He loved her and had a kid with her and if he was alive he would think you are all dousches who are hating on his wife

Thing is I think Geffen were great for Nirvana. It's fair to assume had Geffen not signed Nirvana there probably wouldn't have been the album 'Nevermind'. i disagreed with some people in here there is bands out there who actually write good music such as paramore, say anything. etc. but most bands just kind of put no emotion into their songs like most rap.
but this man deserves respect.

paramore is a good band. nirvana started a new sound of music that some artists base their sound on so technically nirvana is "mainstream". ;)

yes, u can obviously have ur opinion. and nirvana ISNT mainstream because their the ones who started the trend. so, if u have a brain, its quite obvious nirvana isnt mainstream. they didnt copy anyone. now, they didnt start grunge, but ive never heard anything like nirvana before 1989

Yeah they were mainstream,but they didn't want to be. They didn't completely sell themselves TO the media like KISS for example who just totally marketed themselves off...Nirvana's (well Kurt's) plan was to be an underground band.
When I hear "mainstream" I usually think of bands who were trying to be mainstream.
