@grimmrheraldthefrenc Depends on the quality and treatment of CG used. In this case, I feel that it works. Take Appleseed for example. The cell-animated version was horrid. So were the initial CG versions. Finally with Ex-Machina, they got it right. It boils down to the visual treatment, quality, and how well it matches the original material that is being translated to the selected medium. Harlock's cape flowing in the wind, breaking through clouds of mist.... These are ideal for CGI.

2012 is the current target year for release in the States. Not sure who distributor will be, but he's had good luck with Funimation over here, and if that debuts it on Funimation Channel I'm even more for it.

Recently CNN's entertainment page did a top 10 list of fantasy/fictional pirates. One-Piece was in the top 5, no Harlock at all. I asked how that was and thought the large amount of thumbs ups I got was awesome.
