@ichverdamischt Kinda :) I placed each block individually. But I didn't mine all that gold. That would take A LOT of mining. When the game is finally released as a full product I intend to build the buddha again but with real gold and with one life. i.e. if I die I'll start again!

First of all, how did you get pink (cherry blossom trees)? I'm trying to do a japanese inspired village and the green trees just dont fit in. Second, amazing buddha. Coincidentally, I wanted to add a Buddha statue to my area as well. Overall great job!

@animecrazy2391 There are more than one way Buddha is shown. "Happy Buddha" is the plump, smiling, long-eared guy, but there is also the Buddha who meditated for so long, without any food, water, etc.

@Soyawannabeamasta The buddha in this statue is how Siddartha Gautama, the "founder" of Buddhism, is typically depicted. The fat long eared smiling buddha is not the same person. His name is Budai (the Japanese call him Hotei) and he was a monk in China. Im not sure if he was a buddha (fully enlightened being) or not, but he isnt THE buddha (Siddartha). Youre not entirely correct about the "without food and water" thing, as Siddartha did start eating again after he discovered the middle way.

@Soyawannabeamasta Where did you learn that from? Youre partly right. Long story short, he was once a prince but left his palace to find out how to end suffering. He joined a group of ascetics who meditated all day and never ate. Obviously he lost a lot of weight and some statues reflect this. Eventually, he realized that the path to enlightenment lies not in denying yourself all wordly things, but also not indulging in wordly things. The middle way. He later found enlightenment.

The Buddha is a .wrl file - just Google it - you then need to run it through the Binvox program to make the blocks, which you can then view in ViewVox.

Running Binvox and Viewvox is easy if you're not worried by the Terminal. If you've not heard of the Terminal on the Mac then you might be better off running a Windows virtual machine (or just Windows -- YUK! I know!)

@Promaszta Go to 3Dvia.com and download the Buddha file. It's 3DS so you will need to convert to .wrl before running through Binvox and viewing in Viewvox. See my following videos for a 'how to'

@Faulknerosity No. Viewvox is easy. If you've never used the command-line/'cmd' before then it might look a bit scary but if you go to Minecraft Forum dot net and search for Viewvox tutorial it's pretty easy to follow the guide the guys there have posted. I'm around the forums too so happy to help.

Texture Pack: Quandary from Retributiongames - google it

I used October but chose February for the trees... that way I got Cherry Blossom for the Japanese feel with a contrasting background.

Illumination? No. that's just the last of the sunset. The game has non-directional lighting so it's counter intuitive that the sun is setting behind and the Buddha is full illuminated but it's a quirk that works well for me here.
