I spent my youth doing (mostly) two things...training as a figure skater, and listening to my parents play Neil Diamond. In 1989, I won two golds at sectionals and was on my way to Nationals when my career ended. An accident left my knee shattered. I've since become a successful attorney, so I have few regrets. BUT, Mr. Orser got to live the dream, and watching him say thank you to the song my parents used at their 50th Anniversary is awesome. I'm going to watch it again right now.
Thank you Bryan so very much for sharing your dreams with Yuna, a Korean born determined skater. As an American born in Korea, I want to thank you for your love and care for Yuna! May God bless you and your family and your profession.
this is beautiful and the setting is it at Lake Louise? Wonderful how they edge out the lake with a Maple Leaf.. This performance made me cry...its beautiful, touching. I never believe when someone told me when one is over job one cries.. Brian , you are a beautiful person, kind and a class act..Miss you on the ice but happy to know you are passing your gracious forms and expertise to Yuna and Adam. Best Wishes. Yah Canada!
Thank you SO much for posting this!!! I was listening to Neil Diamond and thought of this performance by Brian and never thought it would be on YouTube. THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! :)
He is 4ever my hero! i was only 13 y/o when i saw him on TV during the 1988 Olypmics! and until today, he still the greatest all-round skater ever in my opinion!
Orser could have been a ballet dancer. He really interprets the music, doesn't just wave his arms a bit and do the jumps like so many men skaters. So moving, this one brings tears to my eyes.
Brilliant Neil Diamond's song and absolute fantastic interpretation on ice by one of the greatest figure skater forever. Many thanks!!!

He performed this at the Sears Open.
a pro + amature competition taking home first. it was an incredible performance. i was looking for it online.
same routine. incredible. starts with the simple figure 8's he started his skating career with, and works his way through his life.
absolutely amazing.
