doug stanhope i do believe has only ever made me laugh once with his shovel in the foot for your mortgage joke but he's so engaging, its hard notto watch and listen to him. i don't think he's funny but he's certainly the next best thing
Stanhope is an interesting cookie. He totally comes off as this sleez ball on open mike who's all lit up, but his underlying genius is very good. I think he purposely tries to give that impression of being a random guy, and with this skit, admits how he really is a random guy. but that being a random guy doesn't make you any less special than other 'professionals'. he shows you how thick that barrier can be sometimes to get over thinking about by being blatantly carefree in contrast to oneself
