Where did yaoi originate? Japan. The same country as Saint Seiya and as far as I know, Mr Kurumada has never complained about it.

If you think it is because they are warriors who protect the world and portraying them as gay is demeaning, then think about historical characters like Alexander the Great and Hadrian, who had male lovers.

The yaoi version is only an alternative to the original, we never said that they ARE gay but that they COULD be. Notice the difference?
