  • Say what you like about the drugs and all that... she still aged gracefully...

    Beautiful until the end.

  • If you watch some of Judy Garland's movies you see she was unbelievably talented. If you read about her life I don't think she was ever happy. I hope you are happy now Judy, you still live in your movies and I love you.

  • @MrCZLover her movie company and the lead man of it didn't let her live.they forced her on diets and she could only make movies for them also her mother was the one pushing her to fame .she was a prisoner to the people how presented themselves as her friends and family.and the unlucky marriages ( a gay husband) ,drugs and alcohol just took her life :''((

  • once they get past 30 they should be hidden away

  • as I'm watching this, something about her morphs into Natalie Wood...

  • Judy Garland, the Whitney Houston of the 60's.

  • @7mandoblu Exactly,7mandoblu. I've thought that while watching some clips of Whitney's final concerts.

  • Today and Tonight I dedicate this song to Miss Whitney Houston, it is Judy's song but tonight its for Miss Houston, who is now somewhere Over The Rainbow bye love and peace.

  • @cinderelmo just a good comment. Agree.

  • @FTFoodieCraft: she died of an overdose of anti depressants. she was highly depressed(obciously) cause of the pressures from work i believe.

  • :O how did she die?

  • Never met you before Judy, but I am sure you are looking down from heaven and realize that your music, especially this song.......has seen me thru some very rough and sad times.......Thank you <3

  • What's with the sudden "echo" effect after :25?

  • i love her <3 all this people that talking shit about everyone.. i think if they can sing like her... or just sing???? maybe not...

  • Just brilliant!

See me singing this by clicking my name....i'm only 11! :-)

  • this is liza

  • It is amazing to see how much resemblance you can see in Liza of BOTH her parents. If she would stand next to either one, back in the day, especially, she would be the spitting image of them both!!! All 3 WERE some beautiful people.

  • This touches my soul...darling Judy

  • No one like her ever.

  • This clip is simply beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing with us!

  • A rare and spine tingling treat! Judy only sang it on just a few tv shows.. No matter what condition her voice was in, she always sang Her signature song in excellent voice.. Judy was and still is, the Greatest Entertainer the world ever had or ever will have..

  • two of the greatest voices of that generation. music that will endure forever.

  • That is TALENT!!! Just think about this when you hear Justin Bieber or any of the rap shit that passes for music today......

  • Judy garland was so beautiful and had a amazing voice!!

  • 我這輩子永遠都愛Judy Garland

  • what a very nice song !!!

  • Merry Christmas Judy, Merry Christmas

  • Well look at you my childhood actress, Why u no young anymore?

  • that voice is irreplaceable.

  • Back then, Judy Garland was the queen of the television!

  • Wonderful.

  • Always remember we ALL get older not younger then eventually we ALL die so let's just sit back & enjoy Judy's singing over the rainbow.

  • She is 42 here! She looks awful!

  • @fleetcomm She was a pillhead..

  • @ghostofjamie SO THE FUCK WHAT? She is one of the one greatest talents in musical history

  • @fleetcomm Shes beautiful are you nuts Judy Garland and her daughter Liza both have the most amazing big brown doe eyes I'd ever seen in my life.

  • how old is she

  • And she STILL sounds better than all the pop singers

  • So sad to see her to short of breath. She had such a God-given talent and it was sad to see her life destroyed.

  • its sad shes only 43 ere and she looks SOO much older.. :/

  • She's only 43 here. The drugs and alcohol were clearly ravaging her at this point. So sad. She could've lived a long life. Matter of fact, she'd be 89 today (2011).

  • @MattArchives so true.....

  • @MattArchives She actually looks pretty good here, in comparison with how she looked over the next four years. The sad part was her voice, which was lower or deeper because she had a tracheotomy in 1964 from an overdose.

As for living a long life, don't worry about it. I believe in reincarnation and she has already returned.

  • @xander7ful Well said! I believe Judy would come back as a rainbow or precious little blue bird...like in her song. Something that is so deeply beautiful......that it can only be admired from a distance. That way it goes untouched.....unharmed........and stays beautiful for eternity.

  • @xander7ful if someone wishes or something left to do they think then come back to the life again.

  • @MattArchives She had the occasional drink now and then but she was NOT an alcoholic! She had cirrosis due to the years of abuse with the pills she had been forcing to take. People have this wrong idea of her being an alcoholic when it's not true. It's stated in a lot of her biographies like, for example, her daughter Lorna Luft's "Me and My Shadows". I think it's important for people to stop saying she was an alcoholic and start realizing that the people around her drove her to her death.

  • @MattArchives Remember Elvis Presley too. So young when died.

  • @MattArchives My sentiments exactly. It was such a tragedy, she was so very talented. She's 43 and looks easily 20 years older, and has that "old woman's voice". It had a slur and a very bad rasp in it.

  • I love Judi...they were just using her then, she needed the money, she was one of the brightest STARS ever!

  • This is Judy singing 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow', performed on 'The Andy Williams Show', September 20, 1965. this is one of the few versions I know of that is in color, with Judy in vibrant red.

  • My 3 grandaughters love the wizard of Oz-we hug and watch it and we sing-there can be happyness in this world if we really try-Thank you Judy and thank you-the lollypop guild

  • I'm sure she's somewhere over the rainbow....<3

  • wow she looks different....pretty and she looks like her daughter here

  • Is it me or does she still sound f***ing amazing!! even at an old age!

  • Judy Garland sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" at her best when she was young.

    She looked beautiful here though.

  • thank you for posting!

  • i love the movie the wizard of oz. i still watch it with my nephews.

  • Sexy as hell... I am 22 but I would TOTALLY marry her! She'd probably make me happy as hell. :-)

  • @mauriceshow if you're into dating corpses.

  • Love Judy Garland! She is amazing!

  • Goose bumps, just like the original out of The Wizzard!

  • Oh Judy!!!!!!!!!! I miss you and I didn't even know you.

  • @jmweed1861 How?

  • You see kids, don't do drugs!

  • amazing

  • people who said she was unattractive are obviously jealous, i mean yes she wasnt the most beautiful actress of her time, but still she got the "IT" factopr, physically talking, something in her face is just so charming, so pretty. and she puts all the sex-symbols of nowadays to dust, she is VERY BEAUTIFUL and w/o a doubt talented

  • nice.........-------------------

  • You can hear her vocal decline here, yet she delivers; not a random note, beautiful phrasing. Very touching performance.

  • Wow you really see Liza here. And as much as I love the iconic version of this song...there's tragically touching emotion in this clip, its very raw and beautiful. Thank you.

  • RIP Judy Garland.

  • I love you Judy Garland rest in peace somewhere over the rainbow

  • michelebelle1 ..glad u did hunny ..x

  • John Lenon made her life hell in 1965

  • The studios riuined this incredible ladies life. They gave her and Mikey uppers to keep them awake for the long grueling days of shooting movies.

  • @skipper8257 The studio ruined Judy garland's life, but then again they also made her famous.

It's all about making money. The longer the hours that she worked, meant the quicker the filming finished, and they can move her on another movie.

  • @PhillyC187 What the hell do you mean waste of talent? That must be the most ignorant thing I have ever heard. Judy's career lasted FORTY-FIVE YEARS. She made 30 films, 30 television shows, was nominated for two oscars and one an Oscar, nominated for ten Emmy's, won five grammys (she was the first female performer to win so many Grammy's) She then switched to being a concert artist and sang in concerts for almost 20 years before she passed away. I KNOW her children. They love their mama.

  • Why do you people do this? A Judy Garland video can't appear on YouTube without the usual crap about her personal issues. Why can't you people quit beating a dead horse and focus on her 45 year career? Some people seem fixated on the way she died. Judy herself bemoaned the fact that her private life, which was none of anyone's goddamn business, was always talked about every time she was performing. Thus, her genius as a performer was often overshadowed by her private life. That's sad.

  • Liza sings just like her

  • I knew Judy's publicist and he told me she hated singing OVER THE RAINBOW

  • @ScrapNfight Which publicist? Need a name...need proof, because this statement is not entirely true.

  • @whatwouldjudydo Matthew West was one of her publicists at one time. He was also very good friends with Mark Herren (her 4th husband) who I knew also. They both knew Judy, loved her and had very interested stories to tell. Matthew said Judy hated singing Over the Rainbow. This is typical of alot of singers who get tired of having to sing the same songs for decades. Doesn't mean she didn't love the song, she was just personally in general just tired of singing it. Not hard to understand

  • @ScrapNfight Actually, it's spelled Herron, but you knew him and probably spelled it that way by accident. And, there is no such word as "alot." It is two separate words: "a lot."

  • i LOVE you!!!!

  • @awesomebananna I wonder why?

  • @PhillyC187 she was 16. she was playing a 12 year old, they gave her weight-loss drugs and strapped down her chest to make her seem 12.

  • I thought she was Liza Minnelli at first

  • @iHasAMuffinx3

    You're not the only one!

  • @iHasAMuffinx3 that's because Liza Minnelli is her daughter

  • @iHasAMuffinx3 You know Liza is her daughter right?

  • @iHasAMuffinx3 That's most likely because Liza Minelli was Judy Garlands daughter.. Looks pass down you know.

  • @SilvferTroX Yeah i know she was judy garlands daughter and i know looks pass down.....I was just saying, i thought she was liza minelli.

  • @iHasAMuffinx3 haha...so did i!!! XD

  • @iHasAMuffinx3 Liza Minnelli was her daughter

  • ça me fait de la peine,il ne faudrait pas vieillir

  • LOVE HER.. She looks just like her Mama.. :D Beautiful Voice..!

  • I love this, Judy Garland is a beautiful, Talented woman and she is very much loved! <3

  • When I see this I want to hug her and let her know how much she was loved. I wonder if there would have been places for rehab like Betty Ford clinic, if she says have been helped. By the comments that are being posted on the site, you can tell that she is still touching lives today.

  • I can't understand someone who was as beautiful as her could ever feel insecure about her looks.

  • when did this happen?

  • Of course she was depressed... look at the horrible life she lived...

  • Why do i feel she's sad?

  • @ImClive98 It seems when she's singign that she's hearing that her voice is out. She sounded very different younger. It's still a moving performance, but it has some pain to it, in a way.

  • thats her daughter?? shes good.

  • the clarity of this is amazing considering the year was 1965..dont you think? although i remember the time well lol. showing my age.

  • I SWEAR I THINK MAYBE IM LOOKING TO CLOSE OR SOMETHING LOLZ BUT WHEN I LOOK AT HER SMILE AND HER EYES AND ELIMINATE THE HAIR SHE LOOKS SOOOO YOUNG TO ME!!!

  • She seems to be sad... She has "something" sad in his voice... Really really emotive...

  • wow her daughter is a twin of her!

  • @MeetMileyProject ikr liza i heard of her im 12 so i really dont know much about her but shes beautiful & i really like the movie the wizard of oz

  • WHAT A SENSITIVE HUMAN BEING. GOD BLESS JUDY

  • Everytime I watch this, I can't help but get teary-eyed...

    :_(

  • @kaijumovies96 True. When she had to practice dancing for her performances when she was,say 15,and she was tired of trainning, they forced her to take energy pills and stuff to make her keep working without rest. Her parents didn't help her at all.they wanted her to make money, period. Is a sad story. She was amazing.

  • holy fuck she looks EXACTLY like her daughter Liza......shoot

  • She just outsings everyone. Good lord, what a voice ... it's not even a voice. She is a phenom.

  • I totally agree. I loved this performance as well but I couldn't shake off the feeling that she was hurting or in personal pain. I love though how you really do get every word she says. I saw Wizard of Oz but don't know much about Judy Garland yet I couldn't help but tearing up hearing this version.

  • I can smell the cigarettes.

  • Despite her professional triumphs, Judy battled personal problems throughout her life. Insecure about her appearance, her feelings were compounded by film executives who told her she was unattractive and manipulated her on-screen physical appearance. She was plagued by financial instability, often owing hundreds of thousands of dollars in back taxes. She married five times, with her first four marriages ending in divorce. She died of an accidental drug overdose at the age of 47. :( god bless u<3

  • @LaMinnieMouse11 died two weeks before her children were going to visit her just to say

  • @LaMinnieMouse11 way to copy her wiki page.

  • @LaMinnieMouse11 What is the purpose of your post? You tell the story that's been told a thousand times. Judy herself HATED that people couldn't or wouldn't just focus on her career; there was always this, in her words, "fixation" on her private life, which was, nobody's goddamn business. Your mini-biography doesn't even mention the five Grammys, the ten Emmy nominations, the Oscar, the Tony, the forty-five year career, 3o films, 30 television shows, and so on. THAT is what's important.

  • @whatwouldjudydo

um,i was just traying to help,i don't think that every person knows that.

    sorry if i offend you.

  • @LaMinnieMouse11 wikipedia much

  • very talented! her voice is amazing!

  • This actually made me cry, she went so young! 47 was nothing! God bless her!

  • She was so amazing <3

  • aww, she looks just like Liza :) So very talented

  • Damn she must've been so fucking sick of that song.

  • shes still the dorothy we saw so many years ago........luv you judy <3

  • Just a wonderful voice.... She will always be remembered... Thank you Judy

  • meh,her voice got REALLY damaged so sad but she really WAS a GREAT singer!

  • This reminds me of the recent appearance of her daughter, Liza Minelli, on The Graham Norton show in both appearance and vocally. Amazing

  • great version... wonderful Judy!!!!

  • i still see dorothy in her

  • She gave and gave and gave always!

  • she was so stunning and beautiful right up till the day she died, she was ana amazing actress loved her

  • I heard this lady is going to be 90 in 2012. She mad crusty, son.

  • she did not age well

  • amazing voiiice !

  • Her voice was kind of rough here... Though I still love to hear her sing this beautiful song. Though it would be nice not having a video flooded with comments full of dumbass trolls and hatred. Especially people who don't like Judy yet look up videos of her. :( Still love Judy though. :)

  • check out liza she makes me gut myself laughing !!! its all luxurious and I grew up there...... and it has nothing to do with her mother .......

  • sounds like liza hammin it up nowadays and dont get me wrong - i grew up on with dorothy and liza is her daughter vanillawtf

  • sounds like liza hammin it up nowadays and dont get me wrong - i grew up on with dorothy

  • i can see her eyes going back to the days where she sang this during Wizard of Oz. Nostalgia.

  • sounds like she smoked one to many cigarettes

  • That is a Diva, she is tired and she still manages to sing.

  • how did she damage her voice?

  • Maybe she wasn't in the best voice for this show, but she looked nice and it was

probably one of Andy's most memorable shows. Judy also gave her best to her fans, and really, there was no one quite like her.

  • @JohnnyGNV The moritician would have had an easy time with her on this day. She looked like she was already pickled.

  • (sidenote: 'Vigilant Citizen' has some great articles about hidden meanings/messages in movies and music videos...here's the link to his 'Wizard of Oz' article: vigilantcitizen(dot)com/moviesandtv/the-occult-roots-of-the-wizard-of-oz/

  • She passed away far to young... she was only 47... by an accidental overtime overdose... June 22, 1969...

  • @Virtuosic1 If you claim you're talented, Suh, then who are we to disagree? But what do mules have to do with it?

  • @Jayee123 I claimed nothing. I stated that I work as a studio musical director/arranger/composer for a major label based in midtown NYC. I posted a piano video search title. You can watch the video and make up your own mind as to the degree of my musical knowledge and ability.

  • pretty cool!!!! T,T

  • Got to see Judy days before this moving performance (9/13/65) Los Angeles Greek Theater and she was extraordinary, looking great and mesmerizing Sold Out audience...as a teen was in awe, fortunate to have front row seats next to George Hamilton & Disney star Hawley Mills in row behind...nobody compares to Judy live and sadly wannabees today pale in comparison to the real thing...Bravo Judy, love you and RIP

  • When I was younger, I took the lines about the blue bird to be a kind of sad ode. Like "I wish I could go there, too." Now that I'm a bit older.. maybe 17 years from my first viewing that I can remember, I realize the lyrics are more of a "if the birds can do it, I can do it too."

Really can be quite an inspiration song.

  • @cutepiku . I have never looked at it that way before. I like your way of thinking :)

  • she looks awful for 44

  • hold in 9 STROKE!!!

  • i like it

  • Yeah... this is a beautiful version. It brought me to tears, because every word of it seemed so powerful and emotional. This time she ment it because her life really became tragic. It is a beautiful version truely, if you can understand even partly the emotion she has behind it.

  • It's true, her voice really got damaged over the years, (you could say the same about Count Basie) but what she lost in purity and range she gained in ability to emote and perform. You feel and understand each word she sings, and she pulls you into her performance like almost no one else can.

  • @nelljehu Count Basie? A vocalist???? Have you lost your fucking mind alltogether, or do you not know who the fuck Count Basie is? Basie was as much of a vocalist as Ellington was. Neither pianist would ever be accused of being Nat King Cole.

  • @nelljehu absolutely correct. after she left MGM and all those early movies, she found her wonderful singing emoting voice!!
