@stevi1998 p.s. you can clearly see that he is constantly looking into the sheets AND you can see that it is a Bach book, soit cant be a canteen menu.... btw nice playing
Lets clear something up here. he is not playing from the music. the piece is too long to be contained on two pages even with the repeats. So it is either a prop or it is the canteen menu but it is not there to sight read from for sure. Nice interpretation of Bach btw.
@stevi1998 He is playing from Koonce's edition of the complete bach lute works. I have this edition, and the gigue is two pages long. but he does play it well...who cares if he has a score?
@jkramerm No kidding. Plus Koonce's are so easy to read anyway. I played the whole 1007 at my junior recital while reading from his transcription and it went great, I even had specific compliments on my Bach. Memorization is not the most important thing by a long shot.
my only problem is should he not as a professional guitarist memorize his music? It shouldn't matter even if he has crazy long pieces to memorize. He should be able to do it.
@ArturoL2009 He's making a recording, its not a performance. Therefore theres no problem if he uses music, its doesnt create a barrier to the listener in the way it can when its a live performance.
That's a Neil A KJOS Music Company Edition, prepared by Frank Koonce. It includes the manuscripts and very good notes on performance practice. On top of that, the price is a bargain!
Finally a really good performance of this gigue

Bravo maestro, absolutely loved it. I find it better than John William's Interpretation. My respect for you.

I very like your interpretetaion!
I have a question about some changing in reprises: it your oun changes or such redaction?
Strangy87 2 years ago
That is part of the baroque practice when performing repeats. It ads variety and give room to the performer's ability to improvise.

Beautifull natural sounding ornaments.
The focus is entirlily on the expression of
how the music is heard inside .
This suite is played beautifull .
Thanks Jason !
