He did have a career before the what thing, that was just something he came up with to be weird when he was a heel but people still liked him. Stone Cold was very important in helping the WWF back in the late 90s against WCW, his character of being a badass bear drinking Texan giving the middle finger and using questionable tactics gave the fans something different to root for, Austin was an entertainer to the highest degree.
If you narrow it down to it's most common denominator, you'll all see that it's the phenomenon known as John Cena that single handedly watered down and turned wrestling into a complete kiddie production, and it's a fuckin joke now.

Kurt angle was "supposed" to have his neck "fractured" or "broken" right when he was thrown off, instead they did it in another episode after the September 11 tribute where stone cold pile drived him on the concrete.
this always happens when wwe plans on majot storylines. The day that Vince Mcmahons killer was supposed to be revealed was the benoit tribute show and they had to change up the storyline to his bastard son instead.

This is why i like Kurt. He is flexible. He plays the face very well and he plays the heel even better. Don't get me wrong, i've always been a big Austin fan, but once he settled into his face gimmick he wasn't nearly as convincing when he turned heel, IMO.
I love how these promos can dramatize and make the event so much more exciting. You don't feel THAT excited when you watch raw or smackdown, but then the buildup with the promos makes you esp. anxious.
Man, what a confrontation! The Alliance Austin is such a comedian. "You will not embarass Stone Cold Steve Austin" as if being embarassed or humiliated ever mattered to Austin before. Kane splashed blood on him, he was tied to the undertaker's symbol, etc. The Alliance Austin is singing to McMahon and hugging him and getting all sentimental and shit. LMAO. He even says childish things like i nthis storyline "this belt is mine! it's all mine!"
I would say this and the Austin-Undertaker First Blood storyline are 2 of the best Attitude Era ones, no doubt. They're definitely both "end of an era" angles, that's for sure. Those are the best.
I have a few questions though: Why exactly didn't Stone Cold stop Kurt from blindfolding him? I thought Kurt only chained his hands. Couldn't Austin have easily low-blowed Kurt Angle with his foot or something and gotten the hell outta there? I know it was kayfabe, but still... That made Austin look pretty weak. Besides, Austin wearing a blindfold with his hands chained reminds me of those terror tapes from Iraq. Ugh.
Austin, of course, has lots of ability, but he's mostly a grappler/brawler wrestler. He's not into holds much, doesn't do submissions, doesn't do aerial maneuvers often, and he's almost always standing upright. His style of wrestling is perhaps the weakest, unfortunately. :/
Sure, Austin was a heel in this promo, and he did what you'd expect, but even in promos where Austin isn't exactly the fan favorite, he still maintains some skill and whups the guy's ass the traditional way.
Has anyone ever noticed that whenever Austin's in a feud or storyline with a technical wrestler, he usually gets his ass whupped, or he at least has to resort to desperate measures to whup the opponent's ass like attack him when his guard is down, use a steel chair, things like that? Even though Austin raises hell, this storyline did make him look very weak compared to Angle. Angle's pinning Austin and doing slam upon slam.
Perhaps the best thing about this storyline is that it's the wwf leader vs. the alliance leader, the feud to end all feuds (sorta). You're on your feet just waiting to see if Angle will come out on top and finally win back the wwf title and bring it home to wwf, or if it'll stay with the Alliance. That's the beauty of Attitude Era storylines.
Not only that, but it's funny how just three, four months before this storyline, Chris Benoit stole Angle's medals and J.R. and Cole just laughed it off, thought it was funny. Then Austin does it later, and he's a sick human being.
What a storyline! definitely in my top 10 (at least for the Attitude Era)
Back and forth it goes. "Stone Cold is gonna make an example out of you!" That was sweet when he gave him that huge piledriver on the concrete. You just don't get good slams like that anymore. Fucking WWE has "banned" the piledriver in their matches for years.
It's too bad they don't make promos like this anymore. Promos nowadays for ppv events last like 30 seconds or less. Promos bak in the day lasted at hte most 5 minutes.

This was a great storyline. The WWF/WCW/ECW line was really the end of the attitude era, and the probably the last great storyline.

This is why i like Kurt. He is flexible. He plays the face very well and he plays the heel even better. Don't get me wrong, i've always been a big Austin fan, but once he settled into his face gimmick he wasn't nearly as convincing when he turned heel, IMO.

I love how these promos can dramatize and make the event so much more exciting. You don't feel THAT excited when you watch raw or smackdown, but then the buildup with the promos makes you esp. anxious.

Man, what a confrontation! The Alliance Austin is such a comedian. "You will not embarass Stone Cold Steve Austin" as if being embarassed or humiliated ever mattered to Austin before. Kane splashed blood on him, he was tied to the undertaker's symbol, etc. The Alliance Austin is singing to McMahon and hugging him and getting all sentimental and shit. LMAO. He even says childish things like i nthis storyline "this belt is mine! it's all mine!"

I would say this and the Austin-Undertaker First Blood storyline are 2 of the best Attitude Era ones, no doubt. They're definitely both "end of an era" angles, that's for sure. Those are the best.

I have a few questions though: Why exactly didn't Stone Cold stop Kurt from blindfolding him? I thought Kurt only chained his hands. Couldn't Austin have easily low-blowed Kurt Angle with his foot or something and gotten the hell outta there? I know it was kayfabe, but still... That made Austin look pretty weak. Besides, Austin wearing a blindfold with his hands chained reminds me of those terror tapes from Iraq. Ugh.

Austin, of course, has lots of ability, but he's mostly a grappler/brawler wrestler. He's not into holds much, doesn't do submissions, doesn't do aerial maneuvers often, and he's almost always standing upright. His style of wrestling is perhaps the weakest, unfortunately. :/

Sure, Austin was a heel in this promo, and he did what you'd expect, but even in promos where Austin isn't exactly the fan favorite, he still maintains some skill and whups the guy's ass the traditional way.

Has anyone ever noticed that whenever Austin's in a feud or storyline with a technical wrestler, he usually gets his ass whupped, or he at least has to resort to desperate measures to whup the opponent's ass like attack him when his guard is down, use a steel chair, things like that? Even though Austin raises hell, this storyline did make him look very weak compared to Angle. Angle's pinning Austin and doing slam upon slam.

Perhaps the best thing about this storyline is that it's the wwf leader vs. the alliance leader, the feud to end all feuds (sorta). You're on your feet just waiting to see if Angle will come out on top and finally win back the wwf title and bring it home to wwf, or if it'll stay with the Alliance. That's the beauty of Attitude Era storylines.

Not only that, but it's funny how just three, four months before this storyline, Chris Benoit stole Angle's medals and J.R. and Cole just laughed it off, thought it was funny. Then Austin does it later, and he's a sick human being.

Back and forth it goes. "Stone Cold is gonna make an example out of you!" That was sweet when he gave him that huge piledriver on the concrete. You just don't get good slams like that anymore. Fucking WWE has "banned" the piledriver in their matches for years.
