This scene tells a lot about Scott. I love Van Sant's way of portraying sex in this film.It's very blank and still, which in turn isn't making me believe that what is going on is real or emotional. From this point on Scott doesn't smile much. In fact, once he leaves back for America he doesn't smile for the rest of the film and Mike is disgusted every time he is touched by another man.I feel like Scott loved Mike but knew they couldn't be together.So he "fell in love" and got his inheritance.
