but when it comes to my kids. She watches over them very well and our house has been broken into a few times. I wasnt home but my kids were and my oldest said first thing our dog did was plant herself in front of my kids protecting them from who broke in. They are the best dogs when it comes to protection though. They mean business and they dont mess around.
Shepards are the best dogs:) Im a retired Marine, now im a cop. I use my shepard for drug busts and man I tell ya she will sniff that shit out good. Couple years ago one time she sniffed out 15 bags of Marijuana at a school. Where I live our unit does a drug check every other month. Ever since there has been very few drugs. Cause the kids know shes comin to bust whoever has drugs:) I call her my devil dog girl:) Damn good dog and she is fierce when it comes to chasing people down.

the most loyal dog and one of the gentlest dogs in the world if you are dumb enough to make it angry you deserve what you get I hawe a six months old pup and I could not imagine being without her :D sory for bad english

Had a Sheperd-Akita cross. Best dog ever. Nothing he could or would not do. Although our Shepard-Golden retriever cross is nice. She's a bit of a fraidy-cat.
I miss my German Sheperd, He was 14.5 years old when he died, he was more like a brother than a dog for me, I had not cried in 2 years before the day he died ... German Sheperd THE BEST DOG IN THE WORLD!
My german shepard gaurd dog cheef was great after a while all things must end. His vision and hearing started slipping and eventually he grew incapable of walking he we couldnt take the sounds of his crying from being in pain anymore so eventually we had to put him down. RIP cheef he lived to be 13 years old
@ramaunsmith I also had a german shepherd when I was young named RUSTY.My parents had to put her down when she was about 13 years old and I was about 17 at the time.She could barely walk anymore and could'nt climb the stairs anymore. I miss her, she was a great dog! Now I'm 40 and have my own german shepherd/husky mix named DAKOTA. He is a very loyal dog, 9 and I have a white samoyed mix named BEAR, 11. If I had my way, I'd own a pack of wolves, a German Shepherd, Great Dane, Mastiff, Boxer, and a Rottweiler. Raise em from pups and create the best alarm system in the world lol.

The first pic does not exactly make them look nice, but they really are! I am almost sure my dog is 1/2 german shepherd, and he is really the sweetest dog you have ever met. He adopted 2 orphaned chicks once!
Thanks for making this video. I lost my German Shepard to Lyme Disease in 2009. I would lay down my life for that dog, and it would do the same for me without hesitation. I've got an English Bulldog now, but he could never take the place of my Shepard, Nelson.
@groovesan actually POODLES are excellent retreiver dogs whose coat is meant to make them float on water, chihuauha is, i agree, not a dog. but poodles although funny show dogs today were quite a useful working dog in the past. and if you want to talk about what a dog is supposed to look like and then use huskies and GSD's as an example then you must not forget about malinois and dutch shepherds, as well as labs, malamutes...
@groovesan i have a poodle, but i had a german shepard huskie mix once, he was at least 4''8, he was attacked by another dog, a rottie, rudy (my dog), in self defence of me and himself (i was 6 then), bit his neck and tore the rottie's jugular out, he saved me from the rottie, sadly he got sick and passed away
@groovesan they're good dogs and what they do, be companions,and they're good dogs at what they do, be companions, maybe you use your dog only for working and thats cool, but ultimately that dog wants to be your companion too and work, poodles etc are good companions and theres nothing wrong with that, don't give me your ONLY ARE shit

I don't think I would be able to train one and they're far too large to be poorly trained! I had my hands full with a 40 lb mutt (trained now, but that was tough enough). =p I do think Shepherds are fabulous, though, and if I ever wanted a dog for protection And companionship I'd consider one - with professional training help. ;) I've often read / been told, though, that they're more one-person dogs. Any truth to that?
A German Shepherd with any white on it, dewclaws, or long fur is considered a flaw. Notice how most police dogs are long hair. No one wants them because most people use them for shows, yet the German Shepherd is beautiful, no matter what flaw it is. I personally like long hair, and yet a lot of people think that they are ugly.
@KIITTEEH I have a full-breed GSD with long hair and wouldn't trade Buddha for any other dog. He is considered an extra large dog at 100 lbs. I agree with you that All GSDs are beautiful.

@groovesan actually POODLES are excellent retreiver dogs whose coat is meant to make them float on water, chihuauha is, i agree, not a dog. but poodles although funny show dogs today were quite a useful working dog in the past. and if you want to talk about what a dog is supposed to look like and then use huskies and GSD's as an example then you must not forget about malinois and dutch shepherds, as well as labs, malamutes...

@groovesan i have a poodle, but i had a german shepard huskie mix once, he was at least 4''8, he was attacked by another dog, a rottie, rudy (my dog), in self defence of me and himself (i was 6 then), bit his neck and tore the rottie's jugular out, he saved me from the rottie, sadly he got sick and passed away

@groovesan they're good dogs and what they do, be companions,and they're good dogs at what they do, be companions, maybe you use your dog only for working and thats cool, but ultimately that dog wants to be your companion too and work, poodles etc are good companions and theres nothing wrong with that, don't give me your ONLY ARE shit

I have a german shepard! She's absolutely beautiful and we had a bunch of chickens raised around her so she could protect them and...things did not go as planned...

I don't think I would be able to train one and they're far too large to be poorly trained! I had my hands full with a 40 lb mutt (trained now, but that was tough enough). =p I do think Shepherds are fabulous, though, and if I ever wanted a dog for protection And companionship I'd consider one - with professional training help. ;) I've often read / been told, though, that they're more one-person dogs. Any truth to that?

A German Shepherd with any white on it, dewclaws, or long fur is considered a flaw. Notice how most police dogs are long hair. No one wants them because most people use them for shows, yet the German Shepherd is beautiful, no matter what flaw it is. I personally like long hair, and yet a lot of people think that they are ugly.

@KIITTEEH I have a full-breed GSD with long hair and wouldn't trade Buddha for any other dog. He is considered an extra large dog at 100 lbs. I agree with you that All GSDs are beautiful.
