I agree on all your points. When I was a kid, even friends of my parents and neighbors kept an eye out for unruly kids. If I was seen doing something I shouldn't, you can bet the neighbor lady would get on to me and also be on the phone telling my parents! It was just like the movie "A Christmas Story" where you can over hear on the phone the boy gettin a butt-whippin for saying a cuss word. Parents could trust each other back then, and not always try to defend their kids like today.

The problem is that you give your kids corproral punishment ,they get to call dcf and get you in trouble....another civil right interfered with "the right to raise our children without interference from the state unless proven to be an unfit parent". My kids get it anyway and I let them know if they prefer a foster home,pick up the phone. I am not an abuser but I learned the hard way that "talking" just creates a monster!
