  • This is the part where the police tried to stop the kids from dancing. He had been on TV there in Boston the night b4 asking that people not riot...and they stopped.

  • never seen anything like James Brown in my life ! that beat at 3.31 - Lawd O Lawd help us stay cool !

  • Were there more crazy people in 1968 or 2011? lol

  • @audesemusic Great observance, He did handle that. I know for a fact though, had these few (young) people whom wanted to keep being on the stage not gotten their butts off, he would have told the cops to take care of it.

Just a few whom could have spoiled it for everyone else who just wanted to see a great show. I'm so glad those young ones went back- I think if it were today, somebody up in there woulda popped a cap off and ruin the whole show.

  • james brown helped to save a nation and a few short years later uncle sam tried to take all his money back in taxes. thats just down right back stabbing yo the max. uncle sam did the same thing to joe louis. proving once again that when uncle can use you he will then he will turn around and betray without a second thougt. but james brown was imdeed a trooper. everytime sam knocked him to the ground he came back bigger and stronger. let this be a lesson to everybody

  • The King Tames His Flock, When Others Would Have Let "THE Man Take Control!!!!!! Rest in Peace Your Highness,KING James Brown...and they say we had no leaders.......StonieDogStl.

  • James Brown try's to tame the beast with in our self's.It took time but he suceeded. In today's time some fool would've shot a gun.

  • Liberals would spin the incident with the kids coming onstage as a poignant moment of desperation related to MLK's assassination or some other such garbage but James knew it was just a bunch of fatherless and undisciplined youths "not being fair to their race". Black America needs more truth-tellers like James Brown.

  • @TheIntruders Who are these liberals you're talkin about?

  • @TaterGumfries

Well, start with anyone who would refer to themselves as "liberal" or "liberal-minded" and then add all the left-leaning folks who are too cowardly to use the "L" word.

  • @TheIntruders So you know what they would say? Interestin power you got. Tater's conservative and don't nobody know what he's gonna say.

  • @TaterGumfries

Are you referring to yourself in the third person. Oh boy.

  • @TheIntruders That ain't no answer. That's ad hominem.

  • @TheIntruders So you can't argue the point? Thanks for provin it.

  • @TaterGumfries

What point? Get off this comment thread, You're nuts old man.

  • The online editor instinctively knew to cut to a camera behind the band and not show the unruly kids coming up on the stage - probably for fear that the blacks watching the show would get upset and start burnin' the mother down,

  • Damn, I swear if they could make a remake of this whole video present day, I NOMINATE WAYNE BRADY TO PLAY JAMES BROWN. CONK HIM UP, HE COULD WIN A GRAMMY AND AN OSCAR FOR THE ROLE.

  • This should be shown in schools on MLK Day. It's a very instructive and beautiful snapshot taken at a very dark hour of our nation's history. The poise, calm, dignity, and grace JB demonstrated here is a testament to the man's real character.

  • This is fantastic, so glad i came accross it

  • Those kids didn't give a damn about MLK!

  • How many groups do you know would continue their show nowadays like that?? Only James understood what we were going through & how he impacted not only our people but everyone.. I'm sure he got his message across 1 way or thee other!! I've got tears streaming down my face as I text this!!!!!!!!!!

  • such sincerity brought tears to my eyes!...

  • @dhihabiwa Damn me too, thought i was the only one.

  • And Boston was the one of the few cities that had little to no violence, some crediting James Brown for keeping the city calm.

  • Dr. Kings Death was definitely felt and it showed with the mood of the crowd.

  • In the 60s and 70s JB was (and still is) the inspiration for many of us in the deep rural San Joaquin Valley. KLIP 1220 AM Soul Radio was the only station who played JB's tunes. And we loved every minute of it.

  • this is seriously one of the best videos on youtube right now.

  • I'll bet some of those kids didn't even know who Martin Luther King was or that he had been killed the day before.

  • @TheIntruders

    True that!
